Thread: Registering a car in the new owners name

I have just found out that I am in the same position as I recently compl;eted on my property so set up in the tax office and a few months later €110 speeding fine. Thsi was for a car I owned back in 2003-2005, when I returned to the UK, time was against me, so I left it with a couple of (so-called) friends to run it etc. and left all documents for them to do the neccessary. It seems they have not. They have also left Spain in 2009 so don't know who has the car but it's still in my name.

I have had lots of advice fly over next week to try and put some sort of a stop on it or get the police to fint it. Its quite a worry!

Hi, I am writing this with a view to see if anyone can help me. We bought a small place quite sometime ago for family holidays, which failed to get built on time and decided to use the clause in the contract to get my money back. The developer did not want to play ball, so I appointed a Spanish solicitor in Torrevieja. We had the court case and in 2007 we won the court case and the developer was to pay me around €90,000 which was my payments made and interest. the solicitor had his costs on top. To date I have not received a penny and have tried my best to get my solicitor to do more, we placed attachments on 3 properties but still nothing. I am at the end of my tether as we moved back to the UK and are trying to live a normal family life, but as I borrowed the money on my mortgage, I am paying for it and would like to clear my debt.

My solicitor tells me that they can do no more unless I pay a further €5,000 which I do not have!

Can anyone give me any suggestions as I feel totally let down and do not know what options I have?

any advise help wopuld be very much appreciated.

Thanks for the detailed information fpegman, I will read and digest.

Re the 3 properties we have attachments on, my lawyer states they are unencumberred, so hopefully free of any debt. He advises me that they are selling the 3 to total around €120k which will be my refund including interest as well as his fees.

I will keep you posted.

Hi all,

I found this site through my searches earlier and thought I would join as I still have an interest in Spain, even although we returned to the UK. I lived in Pilar de la Hoarada and my children attended the local Spanish school. I worked for myself, before getting a job for Hacienda Del Alamo when I returned to the UK.

I am currently trying to get a large amount of money back from Spain and have officially won my court case in 2007, but for some strange reason we have found it difficult to get my money back!!!! This baffles me. You would think that if you use the correct process via lawyers etc. then you would be entitled to your money back, it is a mystery. My lawyer is constantly chasing the cpourt of justice and we seem to be getting nowhere, it is scandalous. I have spoken to my MEP, what a waste of time, they just want the title and office and do nothing. I did get a nice letter - that was it, so much for the European Union.

Anyway we still holiday in Spain as much as we can not much recently due to the above and finances.

Well that is me.

thanks
