Just reading thesse posts and it's evident the Westminster propaganda machine here has done its job nicely, by continually taking the publics eye off the ball. Our scroungers and people on the dole are a piss in the ocean compared to the corporate tax evasion that exists in the UK. Start looking at the top of the pile and not the bottom, and you will be surprised I guarantee you.

Hep I see you have broken the golden rule on here ie don't mention anything negative about Spain. If you do, the resident bullies will come after you. I haven't been on this forum for what must be well over a year, because of this problem. I got fed up with the self righteous bully boys on here, and from what I can see so have many others who used to visit this forum. Spain has changed over the last 50 years and to it's detriment. I am familiar with Spain as I first visited in 1963 and lived in Barcelona for 2 years whilst working as a model. Since then I must have visited at least 200 times and travelled throughout Spain extensively. I love being by the sea, but unfortunately this attracts a "certain" type of Brit usually which means when I visit Spain now I live inland a bit, which is more enjoyable. I cannot abide the Brit bars and their culture. What I see mostly is Brits living in the sun in Spain, but bored to death and at the same time drinking themselves to death. I see them as unhappy people who cannot be bothered to learn the language and immerse themselves into Spanish culture. They want Sky TV, everything with chips and loads of booze. As one poster said it's like Margate on sea with the sun and I cannot disagree with this. I do visit a fabulous vilage north of Barcelona often with about 150 residents(I am not saying which one as I don't want a Bit invasion) and I love it. But you can keep the costas thank you. I have many Spanish friends and generaly speaking, they are not enamoured with us Brits I can tell you.

I never found it boring, but argumentative in the extreme in the past when I used it. Therefore I stopped using it, as did my partner. Seemed like whenever I and afew others posted anything someone didn't agree with against Spain they were attacked, weird. I got fed up with this behaviour, now that was boring :) I came on tonight to look for something specific and thought I would add my two penneth worth.

I absolutely agree 100%, life is for living. When we reach pension age this is an even more desirable concept. And combined with that conception, more mature adults need a certain freedom that only comes about with a decent cash flow. And in my opinion therein the problem. Many pensioners in Spain are strapped for cash, which I imagine disables them from living their lives as they would like to. That's where my thinking is coming from. Also, a good reason why I decided not to retire to Spain, that and the health service ie very little Spanish and associated problems within the health sector. Too late to improve my Spanish, before someone bites my head off, as I sustained a certain amount of brain damage from radiation treatment ie very bad memory problems. I wish everyone luck who has retired to Spain and let's hope with the £ continues to grow.

I don't think that any informed person would suggest that Spain is a good place to buy just now, or for the foreseeable future. My original post was to give some hope to pensioners in particular who already live in Spain. Spain is in this situation for the long haul, as everyone has known for the past 6 years or more, and I agree with many when I say this will probably last for another decade or so. Mainly due to the vast amounts of money that Government has to claw back due to debt, which is as I understand it making many parts of Spain unpleasant to live now. As they say, sometimes things have to get really bad before they get better and I am of the opinion this applies to Spain. That said, if someone wishing to move to Spain has savings and no mortgage, no worries financially. But I along with people I know who live in Spain are concerned about the fact that due to worry people are beginning to behave rather aggressively at not being able, (for whatever reason) to sell up and return to the UK. I do think Spain is in for more unpleasantness I am sorry to say. But , I say again for pensioners financially who want to remain in Spain it's looking rosier financially. I know it's not a good idea to express negative opinions on this site, but what the hell shoot me down, it's the internet after all:)
