Hi All ,
On another Post I Stated that I thought the Drain System and Storm Drain"s would be inadaquete and not up too the weather and very strong rain together with the thunder storms,
I am sorry to say my fears came true today ( last nights weather) , I was in the local Bank and the Manager told me that there were due today a number of Corvera signing"s but due too the adverse flooding the Clients could not go ahead an sign for the deed"s
Later in the day I spoke with a friend who was on site and they confirmed that major flooding had happened and the Rain was to much for both sets of Drains, Infact had entered some Apartments and even into the corridors.
They also mentioned that yesterday to the left of the main entrance where the village is , it was impossible to pass because of the flooding in the ramblas and all traffic was diverted to go though the village and over the bridge to reach Corvera, Also mentioned were minor small land slides and lots of mud do to the wind and heavy rain,
They also mentioned that lots of workers are on site and the mess was being cleared and cleaned and starting to resemble what it was before although it may need time
This sought of thing is extremely unpleasent but none the less needs profesional guidance and reassurences it wont happen again, last year 2008 around this time of year September the same thing happened and in 2004
I wish the people affected the best of luck and a swift recovery of your Property
Regards

Hi Jored,
Apologies if what i am speaking about is your post however,I remember reading a post on here a while back from a guy that was heavily involved in the building game in the U.K and he made a few remarks about the extremely poor quality of build itself and then also passed comment on the drainage. He said that without doubt there would be serious problems with water as the drainage provision was sub-standard and run offs were at incorrect angles??
Again apologies if i am repeating your words, but the fact that this prophecy has come true is very worrying.
I expect Roy (Inspectahome) is on top of this and will have some words of wisdom on the matter as he visits the site regularly. But if this is going to happen everytime there is serious rainfall surely something has to be done?
Obviously thoughts go out to those owners that have been affected by this. Has Roda copped it just as bad?
regards
Dave

Roy,
Has the recent rain fall damaged any properties that you know of?
I am not too concerned with local street flooding. This happens frequently in the UK where you would have thought the drainage systems would be adequate.

I visited 14 properties yesterday and 3 had problems they were all ground floor apartments with water in through the stack in the bathrooms and wet patches above and below the patio doors. Caledonia were made aware and will start work straight away. If anyone is arriving in the near future and you have problems when you arrive there is a small motel in Banos de Mendigo and B+B just off the La Torre Junction of the C3319 in the Valle del Sol. There is also the intercontinental at La Torre but this is already quite busy with people who had major problems in La Torre when a resevoir burst its banks.
I have been here for 11 years now and I have not seen rain so heavy for so long, the last time it was very very heavy was April 17th 2006 but it lasted only 1 day, well actually only about 3 hours.

Very new to all this,so please bear with me. I just want to say that we personaly had a very succesful time with MF. I made the mistake of ordering a sofa and chair on line. When we arrived at the apartment and saw it,we did not like it one bit.
I thought here we go, ready to do battle. But no, we went to the showroom and explained the situation. I have to say they couldn't have been more helpful. The member of staff dealing with us managed to de-stress me in 5 mins flat. She's a Welsh wonder
Not only were we able to order another sofa and chair but they said hang on to the other one and they will collect when they deliver the new one. We found the quality of the beds extremely good, yes a tad dearer than other stoes, but hey you pay for quality. we would have no hesitation in recomending MF to others and we will definately use them again.

Please be carefull if you want to stay in the small motel in Banos de Mendigo aslocally it has a reputation as a place tat people can rent rooms in by the hour
Probably better to stay in one of the hitels in Murcia, Cartagena or Feuto Alamo

I am not sure what sort of establishments you frequent Mr inspectahomes. I have stayed on many occasions in the hotel that pam1966spain recommended and can assure you that it is not the one that you seem to know so much about.

I think that we are talking about 2 different places here, the one I recommended is nearer La torre, not actually in Banos De Mendigo.
By the way if it does rent out by the hour, it looks like I missed out !!!!

Hi, sorry for digging an old Post.
I am about to buy a property in Corvera Golf (2beds/2baths at ground floor in Laurel) and I found a scary picture of flooding in Corvera Golf, with water all over the car park.
So I was wondering if these flooding episodes happen quite often? And does the water goes into the apartment or only car parks?
Any feedback on this kind of issue will be appreciated.
Thanks
Benoit

Hi, We have just bought a similar apartment, also in Laurel, I've seen photos of flooded car parks, but during the heavy rain last year(2019) our apartment and our friends apartment, also ground floor, remained dry. Hope this helps.
good luck
Ter.

Hi Ter,
Thanks for the answer. I suppose some work might have been done to solve draining issue... I heard this year the rain was really heavy, so if no flooding occured on ground floor, I feel less worry about flooding.
