Have you considered a gas boiler. They replace the electric one fairly easily. They are alot more economical to run and you have an unlimited amount of hot water. There are lots of gas fitters advertise in the local papers, but make sure they can give you a certificate. They do not cost much more than the electric boiler but could be more expensive to fit. They are also available from the same places as you have been told previously.

Changing to gas is not difficult, my neighbour did his, but you must locate it where you have a good air supply into the boiler and adequate ventilation out i.e. to an outside wall.

Thinking of changing from an electric to a gas water heater?

If you own an apartment, check your community rules on having gas cylinders in the building.

My community does not allow them for safety reasons...........

Under Spanish Law (not just community) if you are using gas cylinders for interior appliances the gas is supposed to be housed in a special area or building - hence the lack of gas in Spain.

Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the element in the electric water heaters for a more powerful one. Ours is an Ariston bolier, with only a 1200W element. Even our kettle has a more powerful element than this.

It's OK for two showers, but if there's more needed, the water takes ages to heat up.
