After a long hard day moving in to our new house my wife and I decided to eat at the above restaurant having had a fairly pleasant meal there before.  I had steak which was tough, dry and fatty and the veg was rubbery.  I asked my wife to sample it to ensure I wasn't being finicky.  In hindsight I shouldn't have eaten it but I was very hungry.  I was too tired to complain but my wife did.  She says the waiter (who later said he was the owner) apologized but all I heard him say was "it's usually alright" which incensed me.  On the way out the waiter who had served us first also asked me if I had enjoyed the meal.  This annoyed me as it made it obvious that they weren't concerned enough about serving poor quality food, even on a quiet night, to discuss it with each other.  So much so that I told him in no uncertain terms that I thought that the food was c**p and I wouldn't be back.

Once I reached the steps down to the port I heard shouting and obscenities and threats being aimed at me.  When I went back up the steps I found it was the owner and his waiter.  The waiter kept on with the insults and I have to say I came down to his level and took a swing at him, which fortunately missed.  In hindsight I wish I hadn't eaten the steak, or risen to the bait while exiting, or brought myself down to their level, but what gives these people the right to take my money for inferior goods and then when they don't get the reaction THEY want they hurl abuse and make threats.

Hmm! Haven't had a meal there and now I don't think I ever will. If the waiter and/or owner cannot take discord in the same way one takes compliments, then they will face brisk business.

In the port of Duquesa we tend to stick to the Straw Donkey, Billy's Fish 'n Chips, the Pizza and Kebab takeaway behind the Oasis Bar and the Chinese Restaurant next to the On the Waterfront Bar.

However, in Castillio Duquesa we can recommend 'La Taberna Bistro'

Hi Orda good call! To be honest I have heard rave reviews about the Browns Sunday lunch and had kept meaning to book a table but perhaps will give it a miss now.
