Spending time in Spain

We have recently bought an apartment in Spain and would like to spend as much time there as possible given that we have busy jobs in the UK. We want to find out about the Marbella area and share our experiences with other visitors.

Our visit to La Quinta in May 2010

Having worked hard since January we decided it was definitely time to get back to Spain so we were really looking forward to our last visit in May with ten whole days to relax and enjoy some good weather (hopefully) ash cloud permitting!  We did have a long weekend in April but that was to do some general maintenance in the apartment buying new furniture for the sun terraces and some new lamps and cushions and all those touches which make it just like home.  We were looking forward to relaxing and enjoying our efforts.  The only job we had set ourselves this time was to sort out some internet connection as it is very expensive using UK mobile internet.  After trawling round the shops we eventually decided on a mobile Wifi unit from Orange.  There was no set up charge and the Wifi device only cost 9 euros and the monthly charge is just 19 euros which we thought was really good value for Wifi.  We did have to take out an 18 months contract but that was easy enough to do.  In fact the sales staff in the Orange shop in San Pedro were so helpful they actually visited our apartment in Altos de la Quinta to check that the Orange signal was strong enough for us to receive internet before we signed up to the contract.  We would definitely recommend them as they were so helpful and lovely people.  The good thing is that we now have a way of staying in touch on email etc without having to find an internet cafe and it is also available for any of our guests to use.

We did take some time out to vist the Andaluz Donkey Breeding Sanctuary at Estepona.  Marlene and Stephen who run the sanctuary and are dedicated to the breeding programme are nearly always at the market in Puerto Banus on a saturday so you can often pick up one of their leaflets.  We like visiting the sanctuary especially this time of year when the new foals are born.  We took some great photos and when I work out if you can upload a photo to a blogg I will put one on!

We are looking forward to coming back to Spain as soon as we can.

Bye for now
