Archez - a lovely village in the Axarquia

Promoting Archez in the Axarquia as a destination for rural living.

Not only but also

Not only does Archez have cultural and heritage links with Northern Ireland and Scotland, but it is the central point of looking at sustainable living.  With an old ruin at the centre of the study, we have already come up with a few ideas.  Water and electricity are a problem, especially water, in this area.  The water tables are low, and local people report water cuts in the summer lasting as long as two months.  Drilling for water is common place, but if the lakes around are empty, the water table cannot be of a level to reach Archez, a beautiful remote village in the foothills of the Sierras Almijaras.  There is no walking infrastructure as there is in neighbouring Competa and Canillas de Albaida with signage.  It is a blank canvas, ready for exploration on foot, walking and on horseback.

Hello there! I stumbled upon this post and noticed that no one has replied yet, so I thought I'd chime in. I understand that water and electricity resources can be a challenge in the area, especially with the low water tables and reports of water cuts lasting up to two months in the summer. Have you considered using a Drilling swivel to access water? It might be worth looking into as a possible solution. It's also interesting to hear that Archez has limited walking infrastructure compared to neighboring towns. In my opinion, this can actually be a good thing, as it presents a unique opportunity for exploration on foot, horseback, or even mountain biking.

Yes I agree. I do not actually live in Archez, but in Scotland. Although robust infrastructure underpins climate change where we are in Scotland, Spain is a different proposition altogether. Most people do not want built paths, but a "way to go"
