Your not wrong , i was out in Torremolinos this morning and there was no one about, maybe its the Euro/Pound exchange keeping people away?

OK so I'm 110Kms from Malaga and inland to boot...Frankly I'm surprised you have to ask. Of course it's all to do with money; most of us are just trying to keep warm. i am a pensioner and in the last two months my pensions have dropped from 1700 Euros amonth in October to 1500 in December. Not much Christmas Cheer going on here I can tell you...!

Not the same around Duquesa!

Yes it's quiter than last year when we came out here on Holiday, however this year (we live here now) and it's still very busy in the port and in Sabinillas!

Bit confused by this blog post. Are you not in the business of selling bars? This isn't a very good advert, is it?

It's not just the poor exchange rate, UK holiday makers are travelling further and to newer destinations. Traditional euro holiday destinations like Spain and Portugal in particular are tired, and need to 'up their game'. This is especially true of bars which just seem to expect to be able to open up and make a fortune, this is no longer true.

Of course it's the euro, things will not improve until the pound is stronger and that could take a long time. You need the British money and their is not so much around for several reasons.
Most folks are worried about their jobs so are being cautious with spending money, and anyone who owns a place abroad is paying a fortune to maintain their mortgage and bills abroad whether in Spain, France or the US. We own in Cyprus and our costs have gone up immensely leaving us very little spare cash to play with let alone book holidays or flights. We let ours out which helps but wonder how we will fare in 2009 with the cutbacks in spending.

It is a pity when Justin's efforts to
"tell it like it is"
and give the forum the creditability required and deserved is undermined by "commercials" of any kind who only want to spin away the truth for their own gain.

We were in the Costa del Sol at the end of November, and everywhere we went to seemed to be busy. We were staying near Cancelado, which was a lovely Spanish village where the bars and restaurants seemed to be full most of the time, and visited Estepona and San Pedro, where again there were lots of people around.
