Do they want us gone. By baztalk
This is my first Blog so please forgive my lack of experience in writing
Having lived in Spain for a couple of years but been holidaying in my own house for many more beforehand, I have grown to love the place.
Although at first it seems the climate is the reason, we soon learn there is much much more to this country that just sunshine.
The people are both friendly and relaxed by nature and the culture in general is a happy and chilled one. A fiesta is never far away.
Food is a great attraction to me as the availability of vast amounts of local fresh, vegetables, fish and that superb Pork along with sausage products and ham make it a pleasure on its own.
The relaxed culture of this nation is the biggest attraction of all. The lack of big brother pedantic rules and regulations experienced in the UK is a true pleasure. The driving is to put it mildly a little imaginative but par for the course.
Do they want rid of us.
It seems that this may have just started to go wrong with a lot of new minor rules coming in all at once. This is not the Spain I and many others came here for.
Many new actions both in pedestrian and car have suddenly become illegal and the way they can be enforced is strange and a little intimidating.
The tourist trade is a very big industry here particularly along the coast and any major change may affect this more than they have thought through; this is not the only warm climate in the Mediterranean.
If people start to be prosecuted for minor and pedantic rules they will vote with their money and their feet. This may then be followed by the resident expats from several countries.
A little Tapa recipe on the end: Dates in Bacon
Take dates remove stones, wrap in streaky bacon, peg with cocktail sticks and fry to crisp bacon. - Very tasty….
