Samantha Sacido Siekmann is a volunteer for Galgos del Sol but not just any volunteer, Sam drives regularly....sometimes with friends & always with lots of donations of goodies for the Galgos.... from Madrid to Murcia to help with caring for all the rescued Galgos doing whatever it takes. Sam is truly a blessing!
Last October she walked to raise funds for GdS, this month she's doing another walk starting on Monday 13th October.
From Sam.....
"Here I go again!!!! This time I'm going to walk from Estella to León (most of you may know this is a part of the "Camino de Santiago" or "Saint James Way"). That means about 351KM= 218 Miles that I'm going to do in 14 stages walking across the fields, mountains and sleeping every night in hostels where they only give you the bed and sometimes only the mattress.
WHY you may think??? Because I want to raise money for two amazing rescue groups Galgos del Sol and Ibizan Hound Rescue. They work very hard everyday in one of the worst places for the Galgos and Podencos. Both groups rescue abandoned and injured Galgos and Podencos, rehabilitates them and finds them forever homes or as they say "forever sofas".

I'm going to start my walk on October 13th and, if everything goes OK, it will end 14 days later.
My last walk was just one year ago but for the new one I'm going to give you a little bit of information. First of all I'm going to do my walk alone but I'm going to meet lots of people doing the same as me but for many different reasons. The way I'm going to follow has signals like the one in the picture that I have to follow if I don't want to get lost. Not everyone does the same kilometers or stops in the same places.
There are hostels that usually are between 6-10€ night and there you can have a shower (most of the times there are no doors in the showers) and you have your bed or sometimes just the matress. As there are no individual rooms (in public hostels the ones I always go) when the first one wakes up then everybody wakes up LOL.
At this time of the year people usually gets up at 6.30 am but I usually do at 7 and start walking at 8 when sometimes it is still a little bit dark. The journey ends when you arrive to the place you have planned and that's about 4.30 pm.
Don't forget that ALL the money will be for the dogs from Galgos del Sol and Ibizan Hound Rescue. They really need our help and that's why I'm going to walk so much because they do an amazing work helping the dogs and finding forever homes for them. Donations start from 2€ to the amount you want. Thank you for your support!!!!
