We, at Galgos del Sol, rescue galgos (Spanish working greyhounds) & we often ask 112Carlotagalgos, Malaga for help in rehabilitating them, ready for them to be rehomed. They work magic. Obviously we can't send them all but the ones we’ve sent have all seen massive improvements.
Suzie, Tilly, Clara, Lizzie & Mori had been rescued by Galgos del Sol and spent time in the refuge, then were moved to 112 Carlotagalgos who worked on improving their confidence. Jasper was rescued by 112Carlotagalgos but spent time with us in the refuge before going back with them. Troy & Coco (two galgo puppies) who had come from a perrera (a killing station) were being fostered with Sue in Cartegena whilst GdS homed them & Harry, who GdS had rehomed for PEPA, an association in Valencia, who were struggling to find him a home.
Galgos del Sol and 112Carlotagalgos have become great friends and work very well together, complimenting each others work. Nina, who is the President of the Slovenian Association for Sighthounds in Need, and her team had found forever homes for them all in Slovenia. Nina & her team are an amazing group of dedicated people who we are very proud to work with. They also work with Greyhounds in Need UK so we are delighted to be part of this loop and feel honoured!
Slovenian Association for Sighthounds in Need was established in March 2008. Since then they have helped to find new homes for 147 greyhounds ( from Ireland and England) and galgos from Spain. They collaborate with Italian friends from GACI team (Greyhound Adoption Center Italy in Modena) and they often organize transport together. They also collaborate with GIN, (Greyhounds in Need is the leading greyhound rescue charity working in Spain) El Arca de Noe Albacete, Spain, Irish greyhound board & Galgos del Sol.
So nine dogs, Tina from Galgos del Sol, Sue who had fostered the puppies, Troy & Coco, Dioni and Lisa from 112Carlotagalgos & Nina from SASIN & many volunteers met in La Manga, Murcia on Saturday 9th April.
Nina & her wonderful team then had a long journey back to Slovenia, 21 hours & 2230km by road.
