Was about researching about where to look & about living in Spain I am here. So was for anyone interested here are the good & bad things that happened to me. But now I (Luca) will tell you about my experiences, both very bad, better and good.

So exciting!

I've missed writing a blog, when I did, even I found what I'd written was boring so have not published anything, but now I have some exciting (for my wife & I anyway) developments.

Despite all the beaurocracy trying their hardest to disuade me everything is ready for "lift off".

Phet's visa is all in order, only for a month this time, dunno why, despite asking for a multiple which generally means 3 months, so they have surpassed themselves again. The whole Spanish system needs German or British organisation although it will never happen as the Spanish way is just that!

My Favourite Airline RYANAIR is all booked with the Boarding Passes printed & securely pinned on my noticeboard in the kitchen At £60 (€75) don't think I'll get any better. Cost is good, efficiency better (efficiency really is an intelligent man's laziness) & the staff will be pleasant & welcoming as usual. They have a new idea now, they initially shut off the first four or five rows forcing peopler to use the centre of the aircraft first thereby reducing people blocking the gangway, again the first for ideas, what a good professional company. The MD might be crap, but he never hinders me, just wish I had his dough.

I have just booked an automatic medium sized car with MARBESOL, the third time now they have always been very good to me. Everything all in for 8 days, full to full fuel tank, GPS, additional driver, extra insurance all for €144 (about £115) or less than £15 per day. No hanging about either on each occasion, we are met at the gate taken immediately to the rental office, small paperwork & off within 20 minutes, brilliant.

The Hotel about 35 to 40 Kilometres away is booked for a couple of nights, so we're on our way. I am so really looking to meeting persons off this forum & feel so positive about it don't think I've been so excited about a holiday than when my family of seven were waiting for the "charabanc" to take us to Rhyl for a week all those many many years ago.

Great to read you, Gerald, and the very best of luck with everything. Do keep writing about your adventures.

On the occasions I have travelled with them I found Ryanair quite all right. The staff were courteous, (but then so am I), and the flights were punctual.

As for Michael "O", well, he can be OTT, but often he says a lot of truths.
He leads a rather modest type of life, on his farm, and is not given to any glitterati stuff. A point in his favour IMO.

Again a very happy and eventful new year to you and your wife!
Patricia

Thank you Patricia, but I think you just said it, be courteous & they will normally reciprecate, be grumpy and ........
Perhaps what I said about Michael was wrong, he isn't crap just a brilliant business man who squeezes everything. My boss was exactly that, even though a multi millionaire, still went around switching lights off & reducing the temperature.
And to you & yours Patricia a happy, prosperous, healthy & lucky new year.

Hi Gerald, I was just catching up with the other Blogs I read and thinking, how can I get a message to Gerald to find out what he's up to, and there you were! so when are you off and where are you visiting this time? Our purchase is going along nicely and we hope to go over 2nd weekish of Feb when it should be ours. You wouldn't believe the hassle we had off the agent for wanting a survey! The thing is we just want peace of mind, to know its not going to sink or fall down after we've moved in! However, once they get back to work after the 3 kings the survey should be done and then hopefully it won't show anything and we can get the purchase complete. The agent also moaned because we're using an English Lawyer! He's worked in Spain for years and I just didn't want a corrupt Spanish one that still passed black money under the table! Anyhow enough of my moans, I hope your trip goes well and look forward to hearing all about it! Happy New Year to you and your wife :)

Wow it's so good to hear from you again Lousie. We are off on Wednesday but only for a week. We are now looking at village houses about 20 miles (30 odd Kilometres) inland up from Malaga.
I'm so pleased your move is going to plan (so far), very wise to do all you have done.
I need to tell you a little more so will PM you.
Happy new year to you & all your family, it seems it might be good.

It will all go well, Gerald. And when it is 46º in mid-Summer you'll be longing for rain lol.

It is important not to have preconceived ideas about anywhere, or the people there. There are all kinds no matter where you go.

As for the lawyers mentioned by Louise. I would say corrupt lawyers are in the minority in Spain, and I have met and know many hard-working and excellent Spanish lawyers who do their best for their clients.
Certainly you were fully entitled to have an English lawyer, but I just think it is a little unfair to classify the Spanish lawyers as corrupt.

Anyhow, I do hope everything goes really well for you all. As surely it will.

Best wishes for "Little Christmas".

I hate the rain Patricia, as I do the cold, dark damp nights, no sun grumpy people because of the weather (maybe I am one of them!) and have NEVER complained about the sun I'd like to have the opportunity to see to much sun....

Patricia, I realise that not all Spanish lawyers are corrupt but I have also read many times not to use lawyers that are recommended by agents/sales teams so that was really why I went for the guys I did and indeed several of the team are in anycase Spanish. What I have learned is that is perhaps more sensible to use a lawyer local to where you buy. Having said all of that we are having a debate on the first occupation licence business as the agent says our property as its older wouldn't have been issued with one where as the lawyers are saying the law is that any property new/old, city/campo should have one. I'm happy not to have one but then we may not be able to change our utility suppliers as they may request it? A bit of a quandary at the moment! :)
