Differents Mineral waters
Saturday, July 18, 2009 @ 12:27 PM

When we talk about mineral water it seems to me that we are not aware of the differences among them. Once again we have to speak about solids contents in the water, quantity of mg of solid content in a liter of water, and then we can see the difference. For example, we have Bezoya (manufactured in Madrid) with 26 mg/l as one of the best you can consume; most of the water in the market are above 100 mg/l ( Lanjarón, Solán, Fontvella, etc.). There are two trademarks treated with Reverse Osmosis which are sold under the names : Aquarel from Nestlé, and Aquafina from Pepsi group, both around 10 mg/l when we made TDS test (Total Dissolved Solids). So when we speak about mineral water we have to consider TDS test to compare the hardness of the mentioned water, not if we like the taste or not; we don´t have to forget that WHO consider healthy waters those with a solid content under 50 mg/l.

You wouldn't want to drink the water from the taps in our village...there are just three potable water outlets in the village or you drink bottled water...
In Vancouver and Seattle the sale of bottled water has been banned. City authorities say its because of the problems recycling the bottles; but you don't see them banning the sale of Coca-Cola or Pepsi using the same bottles. A move like this scares the hell out of me because whilst Coke and Pepsi are optional drinks, water isn't and once you cut off the supply of alternate sources you are stuck with the water supplied by the local authority which they can fluoridate, chlorinate and anything else-inate. Water sources worldwide close to pharmaceutical manufacturing plants have been found to contain high levels of antibiotics and toxic chemicals which no amount of heat treatment or filtering can get rid of... So excuse me if I carry on drinking the bottled stuff...
