Good Old Cruise Liners!
Thursday, April 22, 2010

It was nice to see on GMTV this morning, 2000 Brits being saved by a cruise liner, bringing them back to Blighty from Bilbao.

It does make me consider two things though:

1. I wonder how many presentations they will have to sit through on the wonders of a Cruise Holiday.

2. If they only knew a family member or friend with a mobile home in Spain, it would have eased the trouble considerably!

Now comes the fun part of trying to get recompense even when Ryanair and BMI have stated they will not offer customers the costs of accommodation and extra travel even when it is in direct violation of the European Law!

This will rage on for many months to come!

'Thanks goto Which Holidays for their information this morning on GMTV'

Spain, A world of unique experiences.
Monday, April 19, 2010

If you are thinking of moving to Spain and starting a new life in this rich and diverse country, spend some time getting to know some of the facts and local known traditions and festivals. Take a camera with you, capture everything!.

Facts you may not have known about Spain

1. Spain is 5 times larger than the UK but only has two thirds of it's population.

2. Food in Spain (believe it or not) is not spicy! Although they use a lot of Chile peppers, the food comes out more tangy than hot. You will be able to take the Garlic though!

3. Hot chocolate in Spain is so thick, you will think your drinking warm pudding.

4. Spain does not have a 'tooth fairy', they have a 'tooth mouse' called Ratoncito Perez.

5. The guitar was invented in Andalucia, originating from the Arab Lute, and in 1790, a sixth string was added.

6. California, Los Angeles and Las Vegas and are Spanish words, not English.

7. In Spain, everyone has two suranames. Their first surname is taken from their father and the second from your mother.

8. Prescription medicine is available over-the-counter in Spanish Pharmacies.

Festivals and Unique Opportunities for a Kodak moment!

Spain can be a unique and surreal country. In August you might hear Christmas carols, in February and October, fountains in certain villages are filled with wine and you will find that Madrid is host to a marching band of sheep, just because the farmers can! Spain is a country that flows with it's own energy, taking the traditional and performing their own twist on events. It's fun, very entertaining and it makes for a carefree lifestyle.

One of the most bizarre festivals is the 'Tomatina tomato fight' and in Alpujarras (near Granada), the locals have a giant water fight in June. Maybe you would be more interested in the 'Batalla del Vino' in horo, La Rioja, where locals fight each other with wine! (Just make sure you keep your mouth open).

For the ladies, the Batallas de los Flores in the Valencia region is a romantic event where the local town battles it out by throwing flowers at each other. Just group some up at the end and present them to your significant other, or pick them from her hair.

These are just a taster of the unique events you could enjoy whilst living in Spain. There are plenty more all over the regions, including the Fiest de Santa Marta de Ribarteme and the El Colacho festival, but we will let you find out more about that yourself. (Just make sure an adult is present!)

A new carefree lifestyle means a new way of looking at the world, new experiences and new memories. Spain has it all.

Thanks for reading!

I just wanted to make people aware they can view park photos in a video format on YouTube along with images from a collection of homes, made by UK manufacturers including Willerby, ABI and Cambrian.

There are other companies showcasing their videos on the site as well. Something else to view to give you a more in-depth look at park home lifestyles in Spain.

Thanks!

10 Quality Reasons For Living Abroad
Thursday, April 15, 2010

Number 10

Exploring

Staying in one place all your life will get you no-where. Exploring other parts of the world you have never been too will give you new experiences of life and a taste of something different. Memories are a lifetime's worth of stories and new experiences.

Number 9

Feeling Better

Attitudes change when you are somewhere new that offers you a peaceful and relaxing carefree lifestyle. The normal day to day aggressors are gone and you will feel like a brand new person.

Number 8

Children

Children love new holiday destinations and what better place than a home in sun you and your family can visit and enjoy anytime of the year. Something they can look forward too and talk about when they are older. Childhood memories are wonderful.

Number 7

A Fresh Breath of Air

If you live in large built up areas and cities, the pollution in the air is of a higher level when compared to that of a mobile home park in Spain, France and Portugal. With that in mind, fresh air means cleaner living and a fresher you! Give your lungs a dust off and breathe in some quality O2.

Number 6

The Best Quality Sleep.

Low stress levels, peaceful surroundings and neighbours that feel the same way as you. Think about the relaxing quiet nights and probably the best sleep you have ever known. A really good sleep and a fresh bright start to the day makes the day flow smoother and feel much better.

Number 5

Reconnecting.

When you are bogged down with the trappings of a routine and regular life, you sometimes forget about the people closest to you and work around each other like a time orientated machine. A home in the sun offers you the chance to reconnect with your spouse or partner and find the spark that may have dwindled as the years passed. Enjoy living and worry less about your old 'time controlled lifestyle'.

Number 4

Inspiration and Re-inventing yourself.

Bringing yourself back on track and enjoying the things you may have put off in life is another great way to enjoy mobile home park life. Maybe you always wanted to be a painter or a fisherman, being able to break free from old bonds and start your new lifestyle means you can re-invent yourself and take on challenges you may have pushed to one side in favor of doing the mundane and regular.

Number 3

Health and Wellbeing

The body works well when it's happy and having a carefree lifestyle in Spain / France or Portugal means that your body is working well and the stresses of life that may have hampered it in the past are gone. Warmer climates and better produce (fresh local grown) combine to create a happier healthier you.

Number 2

Fitness

When you're living in a sun-bathed carefree lifestyle, having a swimming pool available or a beach not far from your doorstep means you move more and enjoy activities the lifestyle brings. You don't get up on a morning, watch TV and waste your day away, you grab your towel, sun-tan lotion and a pair of clip on sun shades and head down to the pool. More movement equals better fitness, simple.

Number 1

Pampering Yourself

What else does living abroad technically need? Everything in the list from 10 to 2 comes down to 1 thing, the ability to let yourself be pampered and have a carefree lifestyle that takes away all the mundane trappings your old lifestyle may have had. Having the freedom to relax and enjoy a simple carefree lifestyle in the company of like minded people on a park that caters for your needs and gives you a reason everyday to be reminded that this was the best decision you could make.

--

Of course, I am sure that there are many other reasons you can personally think of for living abroad, this is just 10 we can confidently express. I am equally sure people will be able to come up with a list against living in Spain but that's against the natural flow of what Spain is about.

Mobile Homes in Spain, My Guide
Tuesday, April 13, 2010

When I considered my initial thoughts about Mobile Homes or Caravans, I conjured up old memories of holidaying with my sister at my grandparents Caravan in Witton Castle near Bishop Auckland. It was a large caravan park nestled nicely on the forest grounds of an old manor house. I would look forward to my weekends, exploring the forests, playing bingo on an evening and settling down in my small single bed and listening to my Nana pump when she visited the toilet, silently cheering with my sister.

The caravan was, even back then an amazing thing. A compact house on one level, a small easily kept plot of land and neighbours (or in my case, most of my extended family) all doing the same thing….Relaxing! An easy going lifestyle that even as a child I looked forward too. I could happily disappear into the forests of Bishop Auckland and have myself a Lord of the Rings exploration day without even stopping for lunch, but the weather was a dampening experience I wish I could have avoided. Sometimes the summer weekends were awesome, othertimes I was confined to my caravan and having a younger sister meant that eventually I would end up playing with “Barbie Dolls” and sapping all my masculinity!

Fast forward 20+ years and here I am working for a company selling them to couples and families wanting to enjoy this lifestyle outside of the UK. I agree with this, the weather means that I would enjoy more days outside the caravan than inside…but with the added luxury these new homes offer, staying inside is just as pleasurable!

Buying one can be split up into a few easy steps that should be explored with deep curiosity.

1. Finding the right park.

It needs the right plot, the right amount of sunshine, the right views and neighbours that make you feel welcome. The amenities and facilities need to be on tap and available with ease and it has to feel right. Aesthetics are only a small part of finding the right park. Inspection visits are the key. Although for some it conjures up images of timeshare salesmen pressuring you into buying a home or putting down a deposit, asking you to sign things, following you around, questioning you constantly and generally making you feel claustrophobic and uncomfortable. The simple answer to this is to get to know a company, shop around and talk to them individually. The hard sell companies will push push push information over the phone, the soft sell companies (The ones you will have more control and confidence with) are there to answer questions when you want to ask them and are not pre-built with static answers that are forced upon you before you even consider them.

Airport locations and flight costs over the year. Getting to and from the park is just as important as living there. Quiz the people on the park, find out what it’s like living there, find out about social events, such as bingo! Very important! and find out about the local town and festivals, markets and things you might like to enjoy. This is a new start, a new day in your future where new possibilities and a reboot of your current lifestyle will begin.

2. Finding the right home.

All the UK manufacturers and European manufacturers will showcase their homes in magnificence, finding the right angles to work the light and camera from to make rooms look massive, but photos are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to exploring the right mobile home and choosing the perfect mobile or lodge. Collect as many brochures as possible if your new to this and begin working through them like you would a wallpaper or paint colour chart. Find the ones you like and keep them to the side.

Also remember that a budget is very important and should be placed at the top. Assign a set figure and from that figure, work through the prices and narrow down your choices. Think about how many bedrooms you require, whether or not you want a large open plan home or closed sections. Think about the placement of the TV to how the sofas are laid out and most of all, ask opinions. Carefree Lifestyles John Robinson is a mobile home fanatic and spends all his time working with mobile home layout plans and working out the best positions for Wall Mounted TV units to sofa angles.

Visit the public shows / showrooms and / or factories. See them in production, see the show models and explore them. Many people just visit the shows up and down the country, such as the NEC in Birmingham or the Caravan and Motorhome show in Manchester. Carefree Lifestyle .co.uk can take you directly to the showrooms of the companies available and show you sample models at anytime of the year so don’t feel like you can only see them on a photograph or at a public show, it’s important to know that getting to see them at anytime can be arranged in some form. Just remember to ask!

Getting technical is important! You want to know room sizes, layouts, floorplan, cladding and if it’s possible to customise the mobile home. Having a layout set in stone for example, means that’s how your home will be, but some of the manufacturers nowadays prefer to work with you and actually design how the layout will be, giving your home a fresh individuality and offering the manufacturer the option to expand their variants, offering more and more to new customers.

Stay in contact with the company, always know that you have someone to talk to, email or write letters to, asking questions and keeping up to date with developments.

3. After Sales

Having the support network available to keep things running smoothly well after your home has been built, delivered, sited, cleaned up and unveiled to you is another major factor to consider. Some of the manufacturers actually have staff living on the same park which is perfect for offering that extra peace of mind and knowing that any teething problems can be addressed immediately and dealt with professionally will give you the confidence that you and your home will live in blissful harmony for many years to come. Being able to ring up your mobile home dealer  of choice and invite them over for dinner and a game of bingo means that you have made the right choice and your future is a happy healthy one.

Enjoy the Carefree Lifestyle
