Rabbit and chips twice please, plenty of vinegar... Not something you thought you'd hear at the chippie but now they are flogging battered bunnies to help customers beat the credit crunch. Sales of rabbit have also soared in butchers, because it is cheaper than most other meats.
Farmer's wife Nelly Trevelyan is behind the idea. She persuaded takeaways to try out the product and it's going down a storm. Nelly said: "It is the ideal food for credit crunch Britain, free range, cheap and delicious. "You get as much meat on a rabbit as a chicken and it is very low in fat. It can be cooked in a variety of ways... stews, curries, patés are all wonderful to eat."

Now for me it's a great idea, I love rabbit but try convincing my kids that it is not Bugs in the stewpot!!
