In my small village in the Serrania de Ronda battle has commenced in the quest to sign up the villagers to fibra, fibre-optic internet.
First on the scene was Masmovil, the mobile phone company. They started installing their cables and junction boxes around four months ago and conseuently had a commercial advantage. The local Masmovil agent lives in the village and was pretty active in signing people up. I joined early on.
Shortly afterwards, Avatel, a rival company, started installing their cables and junction boxes and signing up clients.
Just this week a third company, Charry TV from Ronda, began installing their cables and boxes. Are they too late to the party? It depends what their offer is, I guess.
I already switched from Masmovil to Yoigo (same group, yet independent of each other), but if Charry's offer is better, I shall switch again.
Closing remarks
As a side issue, I find it astonishing that companies, eg telephone, electricity, street lighting, just attach ugly black cables to walls all over the village; indeed, all over Spain. Cheaper than burying their cables underground, of course.
