The Argentine star is close to agreeing terms on a new contract at Camp Nou...
An agreement between Barcelona and Leo Messi on the Argentine's new contract is imminent, according to Marca.
Due to the exorbitant wage of Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Inter, the Catalan side were forced to give the Swede a higher pay packet than Messi. The Argentine's position as the highest paid player at the club was affected, as Ibrahimovic is currently on an annual salary of €9.5 million.
However, Messi, his representatives and the club's officials have now almost agreed terms on a contract worth €10m-per-season, while setting the mandatory release clause at €300m.
The formalities of the contract should be agreed on in the coming days, although Marca reports that it will take a little longer for the 22-year-old to put pen to paper.
