Ukrainian defender joins European champions for reported £22 million
Ukrainian defender Dymytro Chygrynsky says he feels 'lucky' after completing his big-money switch to Barcelona.
The 22-year-old centre back has moved from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth a reported 25million euros (£22 million).
The player, who featured for Shakhtar in their 1-0 defeat to Barca in Friday's European Super Cup, has completed a medical and signed his contract, the European and Spanish champions confirmed on their website.
He told Barca TV: "I feel lucky to sign for Barca. I'm hoping to improve and form a part of this great team.
"It wasn't easy (to leave Shakhtar). Shakhtar thought they would be involved in the Champions League.
"What's more they have just opened a new stadium and the president wanted me to stay."
Chygrynskiy is the Catalan giant's third summer signing after Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and defender Maxwell joined from Inter Milan.
