After bagging two free-kicks against FC Zurich in Real Madrid's 5-2 victory in the UEFA Champions League, star midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo insisted that he "knew the goals would come".
The Portuguese star has been criticized for not replicating his Manchester United form in a white shirt, but has still scored four goals in three competitive outings for Los Blancos, with three of them coming directly from set pieces. Ronaldo insists that winning is the important thing for his side.
"The most important thing was to win the first game and start well in Europe and we have achieved this. The team worked very well and I am happy with the result," Ronaldo said afterwards to AS.
Ronaldo scored two 25-yard free-kick, one in each half as Madrid took all three points in Zurich but he admits that there was a laps in concentration from Los Merengues in the second half.
"We entered a phase in the second half that we cannot repeat in the future," Ronaldo declared before playing down the favorites tag.
"People say we are favorites to win the Champions League but we must remember to take it step by step," he said.
