Flying to and from Spain

Is it me?? Or are there other folk out there who are dispairing of the way we are being ripped off by airlines.

Flying in and out of Spain
Saturday, June 9, 2012 @ 7:44 PM

I've just booked with 'Air Berlin' and had to change a flight by a few days - and was charged 120euros to change it.  It could not be done on-line - so I had to make an expensive phone call - the flight itself should only have cost 70euros.  Why do these airlines feel they have to rip off the traveller.  I won't be tempted to fly with them again.  However, they are not alone - I think my only pleasant trip was with Easyjet - they were helpful, pleasant and made my trip a joy instead of the usual nightmare.

I think these airlines deliberately make it difficult for you to change your bookings - so that they can overcharge you if ' heaven forbid' something happens - like a death of a loved one - illness etc. etc.  They have been allowed to continue their mean, unethical, treatment of customers - because people need to be able to travel from A - B - and they are the people we have to use.  Most of the people in charge of these companies obviously travel business class - which is a completely different experience!!!

I feel some sorrow for you in having to pay so much for a change of flight. However if you had, as stated by you, a death of a loved one, then your travel insurance will pay for the change. If on the other hand you for 'personal' reasons changed your plans then why should, in this case Air Berlin, have to do to all the admin with their expense just because your plans have changed. We have got to get it into our heads that budget airlines do not have the 'fat' that the likes of B.A. have. Again if you had used B.A. for example, with their non-refundable ticket you would be in the same position. In life you get what you pay for, buy cheap and you get cheap service, pay the full whack and get what you think you should. The full price for a refundable ticket from the U.K. to Spain would be in the region of £600 to £800 depending on the usual critea so even with the extra €120 you paid it is still cheaper than the major airlines and most probably gets you nearer your chosen destination.
