A long and winding road

How I did, or did not, buy a house in Spain. The ongoing saga of one mans experiences on the path to purchase.

Introduction.

Fri 7 Aug 2009.

OK, well you´ve read the about me bit on the blog, you haven´t? Well I´m not going to repeat myself, except where in the process of buying a house I end up in danger of going round and round and disappearing up an orifice.

The idea behind this blog is to follow my steps from now until I, hopefully, end up buying and moving into a completely legal house.

I will blog as often as I am able and have something to blog about, one of the things I have noticed so far on this road is that it can take a looooong time before people respond to enquiries.

I will try to cover all of the aspects of the purchasing process as I encounter them, if you think I have missed something out please, please tell me. To quote the late great Douglas Adams, this blog will contain much that is inaccurate and often apocryphal. I´ll leave it to you to point this out to me.

Although I would very much like to, I will not be naming names and shaming people or organisations except where I encounter what I consider to be gross misconduct and know that I could win a libel case in a court of law. If you want to know more about any particular person or organisation that I am dealing with send me an email and I will reply, this information must be kept in the strictest confidence.

All of the posts on this blog are my copyright unless otherwise explicitly stated. You may link to them but may NOT, under any circumstances, copy or reproduce them in any form without my written consent.

All of the documents, terms, websites which I find useful along the way will be compiled into a post entitled Glossary for ease of reference

Enough of the intro and legal nonsense, let´s get to the meat. I suggest you start with the posts entitled Getting Here which will bring you up to date with where I am at the moment of writing this.

Ah, by the way, as I have already recieved comments on the blog. Any comment which I deem to be blatent self advertising or commercial in nature, unless it is relevant, WILL be deleted (and a sarcastic message will be sent to the poster). You have been warned!

I will watch and wait for your post and see what its all about. Good luck buying a property in spain seems to be a bit of a headache and very costly if you ask me. We bought a place on Roda Golf and it seems to have cost the earth by the time you pay approx 12% on top of the purchase price. Still we are in it now and love our roda golf holidays and try to get out as often as we can.

Sorry Roda, did I fail to explain in my introduction ´what it´s all about´? If so I do apologise.

why not try easybuy, they are no commission property sales but only cover the costa blanca, not sure which area you are looking in.

Maureen, Your website is indeed outside of the area within which I am looking, It is an interesting concept though a no commision agency. Then again at 200 euros per house plus those legal services who needs commision? It must take all of 10 minutes to enter the details into the database, at least if Poached Eggs have done their job properly, then let php do the rest. Nice legal page, though the English should be checked.
