Found this forum just before leaving for a week in Murcia so providing my first post with a general update on findings. Lovely weather all week except day we left for UK. (Sunny and 20 – 23oC. Sat was cloudy but still warm.)
For the golfers amongst you, stayed in La Manga Club and resort extremely well run but on-site facilities can be expensive. Played North and South courses. Both high standard and very enjoyable.
Polaris customer service OK when face to face but no apology for not informing of completion delays. Just standard line of ‘we inform owners 4 weeks before completion!!’
Didn’t seem to register that it was better to keep their potential owners informed of progress.
Phase 1 due to start being handed over early Feb!! I’ll believe it when I see it. Some blocks have had windows fitted but not many. Have posted some pics on the shared photos site.
Asked where my property was in relation to the phase 1 build but was told that the people who would have that information were busy at La Torre and El Valle planning their handovers.
For those that don’t know, the main entrance has now been moved. Best way to describe it is its now this side of the railway line not far from the station (which incidentally is not in use.) This is also where the sales / information portacabin is now situated. This is a shame as we were looking forward to catching the train to Murcia and Cartagena from there.
Got a list of the golfing rates for both La Torre and Mar Menor and they are identical. The ‘green fee’ (booking admin fee) is currently €3.50 for 9 holes and €5 for 18 holes if you have the season ticket. It may be more for El Valle as EV is considered to be a more exclusive resort. For non season ticket holders, rates range from €55 in low season to €75 for high season (both for 18 holes.)
Was told by an ex-HR buyer that one of the reasons he pulled out (and went to Roda Golf) was that the golf course is not due to open before end of 2007. Don’t know if anyone has any further info on this.
Asked PW about information on community charges and was told that nothing yet fixed but prices were expected to be less then €100 per month. This will be good if correct but I failed to ask what the community charge related to. At La Manga, they pay a sports fee in addition to the community fee. Also, they pay a Cartegena community fee. Presumably we will pay one for Sucina or whoever it is.
Went to see the show apartment at La Torre and it was very similar to the one we’re buying – corner flat with odd-shaped lounge and L-shaped terrace. First impressions were good. Rooms reasonable size and terrace very impressive. Once again, have downloaded images.
