Hi everyone,

Yes, I know this thread has been done before but I can't find it...............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could anyone give idiot proof directions from the airport down to Condado. I'm completing at San Javier and need to drive straight down to our place.

Thanks

Phil & Debbie (the navigator)

Hi Phil & Debbie, these directions are foolproof.  I think quite a few people on EOS have used them

DIRECTIONS TO CONDADO FROM SAN JAVIER AIRPORT

·        Leave airport and follow signs for AP7 Cartagena.

·        Join AP7 at slip road signposted for AP7 Cartagena (blue and white sign) and travel on AP7 for a short distance (to exit number 790)

·        Leave AP7 at Exit 790 signposted for Torre Pacheco.

·        Keep following signs for Torre Pacheco – you will pass the Polaris World Garden Centre on your left.

·        Shortly after the PW Garden Centre, you will come to a roundabout – go straight on (F30 Torre Pacheco).

·        You will immediately see the building work for Phase 2 of the Mar Menor Golf Resort on the right and a red hotel with white dots on (Barcelo Torre Pacheco) on the left.

·        At the next roundabout, take the A30 turning, sign-posted for Murcia/Cartagena.

·        Continue on the A30 and at next roundabout take the second right turn. (Note – the first sign on approach to the roundabout says A30 Murcia/Cartagena but the sign at the turn-off just says El Jimenado – don’t panic, this is the right road!)

·        Follow the main A30 road through the village of El Jimenado.

·        Shortly after you leave the village, you will see a tractor garage on the left and a tall white building on the right with a red and blue stripe and a chicken on the top!

·        Shortly after the chicken factory, you will reach a major roundabout.

·        Take the second exit, signposted RM2/A7 Alhama de Murcia and Andalucia.

·        Travel on the RM2 for approximately 30 km.

·        Look out for sign for RM23 Mazarron/MU603 El Palmar – take this exit.

·        Go right round the roundabout to the last exit (3rd exit) which is signposted RM23 Mazarron.

·        Take second exit off RM23 (exit number 7) signposted for Condado de Alhama.

·        Go right round the roundabout, take fourth exit up the palm tree lined boulevard into Condado de Alhama.

Hi Phil & Debbie,

We were given great directions from airport from Debie Payton & those on thread below look the same to me.

Having said that we took the wrong slip road off the first roundabout from airport as the sign was also blue & white.

Its not easy to concentrate on driving on the " wrong side " of the road & look forsigns too.

Of course the minute we got onto the slip road we realised we had acted to swiftly.

No, sorry I realised, we had taken the wrong one but it was to late by then

As I am sure you will experience . Motorways & dual carrage ways are great  in Murcia as there seems to be very little traffic

However once your on one of them the opportunity to get of again takes a very long time & often there is no access back on the opposit side.

We were 2 hours late arriving on Condado , through lack of knowlege of the area & 1 silly mistake.

My advise is to take your time & if necasary go round Islands twice or even 3 times  just to make sure.

We ended up in the mountains some where in thick mist , in the dark,. not an experience I would like to have again

Best wishes

Jan & Ham

Jan & Han

Thanks for the advise. I think the main problem is going to be my wifes navigating. She has a habit of telling me to make a turn about 100 yards after we pass it. She then blames me for driving too fast.

I could go on about the differance between how much better us blokes are at driving but Deb's just come back into the room............later.

Phil

Hi

For a toll free and all motorway trip, and to avoid Torre Pacheo, take AP7 from the airport,  posted Cartagena. Stay on to junctions 800 and 810 both posted Murcia.  This is the A30. Then RM2 and RM23 to Condado.

The journey  is clearly posted on Google maps

J & P

Hi Phil

As mentioned previously the info Karen has given you is the same as we were given by Debbie.

We did not come across any toll roads using these directions.

My advise to you is watch that first roundabout.

If my memory serves me corectly there are two blue & white signs DONT take the first one, thats the one we took & we got completly lost. So as said previously , take your time.go round again if you need to

Ham reminded me that we actually went round one roundabout  3 times , just to make sure we were going the correct way having got down safely from the mountains

Oh whats this about  us women being bad navigators.

If Ham had listened to me We would not have got it wrong

Remember  Phil, its the women that can multi task. Ha Ha

Happy driving

Jan & Ham

We've just come back from our first visit and found that our TOMTOM 720 with European maps was great, not 100 % accurate but got us where we wanted to go - I'd recommend investing in one!

Roundabouts? The motor way is easiest from San Havier Direction Categena/ Direction Murcia (bypassing Cartegena)/Direction Murcia/ Direction Fuente Alamo/Alhama De Murcia and then Direction Mazaron, about 45mins in total to our Condado turning. Did not even have to take it out of top gear all the way!!! Same suggestion as J & P
