Credit cards billed in GBP not Euros

I took my eye off the ball while shopping at Lopez in Mojacar last week. The €149 purchase I made showed as a converted rate of £136.49 on the till receipt. I have to say that at no point was I asked what currnecy I wanted to be billed in, neither have I had problems with Lopez before. I know to keep an eye on the receipt when hiring a car and I know to watch what I am doing at an ATM, but now we need to watch what is happening in the retail sector too.

Check your transaction before signing folks, you have been warned!!

Just bringing this thread up to date, as Lopez ARE STILL trying to bill UK cards in Sterling and not Euros. We had a 10 minute row with the cashier and were about to leave the goods and walk out when someone else finally came over to sort out the problem. It isn't that they can't do it, they don't know how to. Funnily enough, every time we have this problem it is a Santander terminal!!
