hi just wanted to ask a couple things.  whats best to buy a television in spain or the uk? at the moment there are some good buys in the uk also thinking about the electrics .still new at buying in spain   barryg

With the exchange rate as it is at the moment 1.1 if we're lucky I would buy as many electrical items as you can in the UK, especially if you can get them in the sales or on offer. TVs are probably very similar cost wise but most white goods are cheaper in the UK. The area I noticed the biggest difference was in the tumble dryer (yes we do need it) and small electricals such as toasters, kettles etc.

I have not seen a 4 slice toaster anywhere here and a 2 slice toaster costs in excess of €25 as compared to a 4 slice toaster from Sainsbury's or Tesco basic range which are around £7. Same with kettles.

Hi everybody,

                          It's one thing to buy a tv in the UK and bring it over to San Cayetano but what's the best company to use for the tv channels as we got ripped off by MicroMesh last year. Paid for the whole year and got 4 months service before they went bust as far as I know. They certainly don't answer my e-mails or phone calls. Can anybody advise a trusted company that they are using without any hassle now please????

We use Torresat and I think most other people around here do too. Its €20 a month and the service is mainly good. Occasionally it does go off and they do tend to chop and change the channel package without notice but for basic UK channels plus a number satellite channels and lots of premiership football you can't really go wrong. But I have to say that no matter how many channels you have (70 I think) there's never anything on!!

                              I know what you mean about there never being anything decent on. If I had my way we wouldn't have a TV at all but our children are so used to it that life without it would be hell. How sad is that??

Have you got a number I can call them on to arrange something?? Is there an upfront payment or is it just 20 euros a month.
