Hi all,

We have just returned from Almerimar after setting up our apartment in Block 6.

Have to say we are over the moon with our new apartment and after a few initial problems, ie no hot water (boiler needed replacing), air con units still needed fitting and the apartment was in need of a thorough cleaning. However after a lot of hardwork two weeks later we left the apartment looking stunning. (Can't wait to get back now to enjoy it !!)

The Port was the busiest we have seen it in all of our visits.

The pool area has had shrubs planted, only saw one couple swimmimg and they both looked perished!!

Dont know if anyone will agree but I really feel that if we want to maximise rental potential in PortoFino then we should consider putting sun loungers and chairs around the pool area. Really think that this would give the pool area more of a holiday feel. Will also create a more holiday atmosphere  for the photographs.

I enquired about this a while ago before the community was set up and was told that once we had a community, then it should be brought up then.

We have had many enquiries from family and friends regarding rental and a few have asked if we'll be putting any loungers around  the pool.  Certainly think it'll be worth it.

We have provided folding loungers and chairs in the apartment that can be used by the pool but it would  mean carrying them down and taking them back up again.

Dont think it would be too expensive to do and really think we'll make our apartments more appealing to potential renters.

Would appreciate your thoughts on this subject.

Hi

I would back your idea (subject to cost). Anything which makes Porto Fino more attractive to potential renters must be good for all of us.

I am going over this weekend to see our apartment furnished for the first time so if anyone would like any photos taken etc.please let me know by tonight.

Hi...great idea...we are in block 5 and if we get the chairs that we would like to be at the pool then they are too big to be stored in the apartment.  Maybe we should take this up with Regina Conde, Administrator of Block 5?

Regarding the chairs and loungers, I'm not sure how we go about it, I thought that as we are all paying into the community, that it could be brought up at the next meeting, discussed and decided if we were to purchase them, it would  involve all residents in the blocks near to  this pool, being blocks 5,6,and & 7.

We are in the process of setting up a website for our apartment and would appreciate if anyone knows the actual address of portofino, ie,street  name etc....

Regards john

Hi Kinglangan,

Do you know how we can get the ball rolling regarding the sun-loungers around the pool area ?

We have now set up a web-site for our apartment and have already  had queries regarding this subject - Are there any loungers around the pool as they cannot see any on the photos ?  I've explained that we have provided lightweight recliners in our apartment but personally dont think guests should have to carry chairs around!

The web only  went live yesterday and we have had numerous enquiries already, so fingers crossed!!

We will be over in Portofino next week and would  gladly do anything needed to get things started. I did mention this subject to Sam at Proindal last year andwas told that we should bring it up once the community was in place. Will speak to her again.

Hi,

On the subject of getting sun loungers around thde pool area in Block 6.  I enquired at Proindal whilst over recently and was told that we would have to take it up with the Administrator, Regina Conde.  I have done this via email numerous times and have yet to here from her.

Maybe if we do it in numbers then we might get some success ( fingers crossed)  Her email address is: afincas.roquetas@gmail.com .  Please can we as a group request the community purchase the loungers and hopefully we will be listened to.

We have listed our apartment and have had many enquiries and a few bookings. Must stress that three emails have asked again if there are loungers and chairs around the pool area so really think it will make the apartments more appealing to potential renters.

Regards, John.

Hola,

Glad to hear that John had a response from Regina Conde with regards to the sunloungers, I wonder if we get a say in their choosing seeing as ultimately we're paying for them?

Personal thoughts the higher the cost the better the quality the longer they last and the better they function!  These loungers will be subjected to some abuse and they'll need to be strong enough to deal with that

It would be interesting know others thoughts.

Hi All,

I emailed Regina Conde earlier today enquiring about the proposed sunloungers for around the pool area.

She replied saying that they are not going to purchase any now.

Her reason for not purchasing them was that it would cause problems with people leaving towels on them to secure them, and this would cause neighbour problems !!!

She said that people could buy their own and store them in their apartments.

We have managed to get quite a few bookings on our apartment and I am not happy that guests using our apartment will now have the inconvenience of carting loungers up and down in the lift to the pool area.

I have responded to her explaining that I am very disappointed and would ask for your support in insisting that it is our money and we should have a say in how it's spent.

Please contact her if you support the need for loungers, her address: afincas.roquetas@gmail.com

Thank's in anticipation of your support.

Hi all,

Just had some friends gone over to our appartment and confirmed what i had all ready heard that the pool has to close between 3pm and 5pm. Dont know if people are taking any notice off this but it sounds ridiculous! Does anyone know why?  With no sunbeds and now the  pool closing sometimes they sure are making it hard to for us to get return rentals.

Hi All,

THANK YOU everyone for your support in emailing Regina.  It's hopefully worked.

Received an email from Regina to say that after another meeting they are now going to trial 15 to 20 loungers around the pool area.

They anticipate that the loungers will cause unrest by people putting towels on them to secure them, then goingaway  and leaving them.

Personally I dont think that it should cause a problem, if your leaving the pool area at any time then one would hope that you expect to lose your sunbed, anyway thats my personal view.  We'll have to wait and see.

If there are no problems then they will purchase some more at a later date.

They are hoping to buy them in the next few days

We are going over to Almerimar this Thursday for a week, so who knows, might get to use them!!!!

Hola Amigos,

So we're getting sunloungers, I will be more than happy to use them if they're available.  I must admit I do think there is going to be an issue with there usage.  Ultimately as a financial contributor to these beds I will expect to get some use from them but from what I saw when I was there two weeks ago I'll have no chance, it was busy all day and I'm sure some people never went to bed.

I did have mixed views about this issue because a lot of people do not seem to have a sense of fairness and they will hog them all day long and they will leave their towells on them when they go off for a two hour lunch or spend all day in the pool and not even lay on the bed they've marked for themselves.

I've witnessed this at my friends place just up the road and as a consequence I do share the concerns of Regina Conde that there will be friction, I hope not but as I said as an owner contributing to their cost I will expect to use them so if I saw a bed marked with a towell and not being used I would hang it on the railings and use the bed!  I just hope they will be as understanding when they return as I would,  had I the audacity to mark a bed myself that is.

I think they have the right idea about a small number of beds as this will still leave some room around the pool for those who have their own chairs to use.  Maybe if more beds were to be supplied they would be better placed around the surrounding area outside of the pool railings?

Best wishes and the best of luck, see you by the pool.

Hi, I assume that owners renting their apartments will prepare a "do and donts" document for their renters so I think one of the "don'ts" listed should be "don't reserve sunloungers around the pool when you are not using the pool". Needs to be put a bit more subtly perhaps but I think you get the idea. It may be ignored but at least everyone is being consistent and it's in writing.
