Hi there Playa Golfers,

We have just made our second trip to our apartment in Playa Golf II for 10 days.  We did a little more work to make it more comfortable for rental and enjoyed the gorgeous weather.  17 to 22 deg celcius during the day with wall to wall sunshine.

But wow, what a learning curve.  Although, not swimming weather, we have been trying to learn our way around the complex and got into some debate with other residents about access to various pools etc.......  Having originally been told we had access to 2 pools, we have now discovered it is only one pool and not the one we were told it was originally.  Our agent has told us one thing along with the Playa Golf on site office and San Jose developers.  However, a local urbanizacion has told us another as they were informed by the administrators.

This leads me to another point.  Playa Golf II is not one big urbanization but divided up into lots of smaller ones.  Each must have their own elected President and Vice president with a committee (preferably living on site).

The block of apartments we are in has not yet been fully handed over with only a few people having completed on properties so far, so as of yet we have no committee or President and nobody knows where our pool is.

Have I confused you yet?  It doesn't stop there.  Building work is being carried out right next to our block, but not for Playa Golf or by San Jose.  Plus much more development is due to be carried out on our doorstep literally by other developers.  It is hectic and crazy and I just don't see how our property is going to be rentable with all this going on.

Then there is the Sewage works down the road from Aldi below the big roundabout.  Fortunately, it does not affect us where we are but does affectsthose who are on the edge of Playa Golf III.  The smell is not pleasant but present most of the time.

After being broken into last time we have now organized a private company to make and install iron grills for security. Fingers crossed we have no further break ins, but with all the new developement going on, who knows?

Adios.

I also have an appartment on playa golf 2. It appears there are a lot of us on this forum. I suggest we look into the cost of engaging a security company to have patrol guards. If we all chip in it might not be too expensive.

Hi Agamoore - I was told that the high risk time was when the workmen were still on site.  Have there been further thefts since they moved on??

I would have thought that if you follow the advice from Securitas then the properties are really quite secure.  Might be worth talking to the owners' assoc to see if they feel that patrols are necessary - there is a patrol at the moment but he comes around on a scooter so you can hear him coming!!

When you read the topic on crime in the main forums, there have been several burglaries all over spain including Playa golf 2 and 3. But i think the more occupied the area becomes the safer it will be. Most of the crimes are committed when everywhere is empty.

Hi agamoore,

From our experience the properties that are occupied seem to be the one’s targeted.

The thieves keep an eye on the property and wait until the residents go out, to a bar or shopping, and then they break in. They are not after big items unless they are state of the art stuff like plasma TV’s etc, they generally go for the small, easy to get rid of items like cash, credit cards, passports etc.

Most of the thieves are opportunists.

Sping is correct in that it is the occupied properties which tend to get burgled.  The thugs are after credit cards, loose cash etc.....

The burgaries do tend to occur mostly whilst there are builders etc... on site.  Unfortunately there is still loads of development taking place in Playa Golf II near and next to the apartment block overlooking the orange/lemon grove.

On our last visit there over new year, my husband learned that the patrols Claire T is referring to, are only on behalf of the neighbouring builders, to ensure nobody is stealing their building materials!  They are not there to guard our properties what-so-ever.
