rubbish skip

hi all  as most of you will have seen this weekend the skip is overflowing ..i have sent a e-mail to customer services asking them why we cant have the proper bins with the local bin wagon emptying regular..i have also told them it is unacceptable that we should have only 1 skip and not have it emptied more than twice a week...it would be to all our benifit if others could send customer services a e-mail   complaining about the skip...if i do hear anything in the next few days then i will put it on e o s ...............dennis

Given that we have just had to cough up for the community charge isn't it about time the local authority [or whatever they are called in Spain] provided bins and started collecting rubbish?

We got a note from Sierra Golf Services to say they had receved a bill for our place - have other people had / not had bills?

The bills started to arrive during June when we were out there. Ours had not come when we left at the end of the month so I left SGS a cheque and they would have paid it on our behalf. Our handover was December 2007 so I assume we have paid  all outstanding amounts. I was surprised because we were told it could be years before the rates were sorted out but it's nice to get it over and done with as there will be no nasty surprises in the future.

Does anyone know  what the rates are for an Eagle?  And what services are we supposed to be getting now we have to pay?  I was also under the impression that it would be some considerable time before we had to pay these.

Don't know about an Eagle - Albatross is 187.89 Euros

Me again, we were told ours (Open) would be about 150 euros so that's what I left with SGS.

Not sure who would get our bill for rates as we leave everything in hands of bank and solicitors and they pay things out.
We have just had a tax bill taken for non residents tax which we will be finding details from the solicitor. Our water bills go to the office, we do not use the sg services so have no idea, as we have never recieved an electric bill, we also have several variation of addresses some in Balsicas and others in Avileses one is in Avilenses, where they will send and deliver bills as there are no services on SG who knows!  They want their money they will have to set up services as i am sure ther are many like us who do not live on site.  We were told by some that  they are charging for the emergency services like police and fire etc. rather than domicillary services. That means they still wont do the green areas etc. But MASA have to complete those roads they started so we wait for that.

When we were out last in June/July there was a lot of activity around the supermarket and houses along that road, which appeared like the electrics were being connected. Any sign of anyone taking up opening the store that would make a lot of difference.

Your community charge is exactly that, a payment for whatever expenses are incurred re the running of a community.  The Basura (rubbish) collection you will have to pay yearly as also your IBI (I think the wealth tax may have been abolished). Your water rates and electricity can be set up on standing order, as also can your basura and taxes with forms for the last two from the ayuntamiento (town hall) It will cost you more to leave your lawers to do this as they will take payment for doing so.

Thanks for that we already have set up and pay water and electricity and the wealth tax.

I was querying why we do not have any community bins and there is still the eyesore of the rubbish skip if we are now paying the basura charge in the community charge.

Hi MagnLoz,

I am in the Costa Del Sol so don't know if it is the same for you, but the Basura is not included in the community charge we pay it to the town hall, each community is provided with bins mostly on the street outside the community and in most case a wall is built around to make it a nice enclosure and therefore reducing the eyesore to the community and the surrounding environment. Our enclosure had to be paid for by the community, and it depends on the community, some don't even bother so you are looking at bins overflowing until they are emptied. Do you have a president and administrator as I am sure they are the ones to sort out the basura situation for you. Hope this helps if not I will get advice from our president for you.
