Non residence tax.

Hi all at BDM,

Ian & Dee O'Keefe here, we own in block 4. 

We have just recieved an e-mail from Spanish solicitors telling us we owe 188euros for our non residency tax for this year.  Has anyone else had to pay this ammount????  We have non resident friends in Mar y Sol who said all they have done is go to the bank and pay 12euros each for a non residency certificate.  Which do we pay?  They have done this for the last 3 years and have never had to pay any more than that!!

Would appreciate any help in solving this.  Don't want to pay more than we should especially if most of it is going to the solicitor!

The Non resident tax is what took over the wealth tax. We paid it through our solicitors as they did it for us as they are a fiscal reps. A form has to be filled in so they did it on our behalf.  Everyone who is a non resident has to pay it.

You have to pay income tax as a non-resident even if you do not let out your property.  however I bet most of this charge is your solicitor's fees rather than the tax.  we used spanishtaxforms ltd to do our forms for £19.95. saved us a fortune.
