Jan 2007. The townhall came to an agreement with the coastal department of the Junta de Andalucía to redesign the Casares beach area. Finally a bridge will be build to connect the Sabinillas and Casares promenade. Furthermore the promenades within the Casares Costa area will be connected up to the urbanisation Casares del Mar.
According to Rosario Loreng, responsible for the coast in the town council, it is intended to open a nursery school, a multi puprose building for workshops, a playground and even an indoor swimming pool! The sports facilities will be improved as well. The current tennis courts have to be transformed into a paddle and tennis club an a small football field. There is also talk about a public Gym.
Another coastal project is the creation of new green areas. A more than 14.000 m2 parc will be created, including a small amphitheater, walking areas an a small playground. Ofcourse, in these new 'Jardines del Rosario' a statue of the town's patroness the 'Virgen del Rosario' has to be found.
Last but not least there is an agreement to restore the old Moorish tower. This project includes the recreation of the historic interior, the external wall restauration and the arrangement of the surrounding area.
Lots of forementioned improvements were communicated last summer yet. A recent press release shows that a start is made with the connection of the different sections of the Promenade. Also the chiringuitos (beach bars) will be replaced, closer to the promenade, due to new legislation.
