Hi Katie, only just found this site in the last two days. Am also waiting for Grand Golf having bought into a different development in 2002 which was never built! Beat that !! Am going over in June for a week so will let u know of the update when I get back. At this stage I don't even remember what block we have bought in..

Katie, currently in La Cala. Have been up to development and there is certainly progress. Have been told Sept-Oct but I think thats a bit optimistic. Its still very much a building site. We have bought in block 8 and this is the first time we have seen it. The buildings are quite close together and the balconies seem quite small but its hard to judge what the finished product will be like. Its exactly 5km from La Cala by road because you have to go round the golf course ! Hope the get a shop close by soon as it is a long trek for a pint of milk

Helen the Irish must be very vulnerable. I also bought into Palm Golf in 2002. They have transferred me to block 1 ground floof in Calanova Grand Golf. I was there i in April . I agree the apartment blocks are close together. A bit disappointed that I wont be able to walk onto the green area from the front. It looks I have a terrace in both front and back of my apartment. It is a long way from the shops and La Cala. Keep in touch.
Mike.

Hi MIke
Just got back. Did you not get a choice of apartment when you were transferred over ? We got a choice of about 5 and chose block 8 even though we had never seen any of it. Were actually in Block 1 last Sunday as there were no builders on site - highly illegal. The development looks really nice and I suppose we should not be really negative !! There are about 70 apartments unsold. Our apartment is 64 sq m with a terrace of 12 sq m (very tight) and are currently on sale from the developer at 229K. I have seen them for sale (same size) in an estate agent window in Calahonda for 189,950. There seems to be quite a few people trying to offload. This may still be in increase in price depending on what you got in for back in 2003 - like us. Lets be optimistic and look forward to nice breaks in the sun. It was fab last week 30 degrees. Will keep in touch mike if you have any questions ask me and I'll try and answer them.

Hi Helen, I heard somebody talking about developments near this area at a property show, they weren't speaking too highly of it. Has yours progressed ok? There seems to be apartments for sale at the moment around this area, they may be people, as you said off-loading these, jus curious as to why?
Look forward to a reply,
Thanks

When you say they were not speaking too highly of it, could you be a bit more specific. What were their concerns?

Hi DC
Don't quite know what youmean either. Don't think there was any overflow as its the same number of apartments as were in the original plans. Can you elaborate?
There are properties for sale all over the costa at the moment so I don't think La Cala is any different.

Thank you all for e-mails we have received on calanova grand golf.I think it is immaterial whether there are lots of apartments or not. We have bought into it and have waited a long time up to this for completion . What I am interested in knowing is, if this development is completed and if not what is the expected completion date ? How soon after completion can the developer expect to get the habitation licence ?
Regards
Mike

I have bought in SEA GOLF and I see the same questions here as we had in our forum.
All I can say is when it does happen it will happen quickly, so have your funds ready. After waiting since 2003 I received a notification from my Abogados on a Tuesday that the funds had to be received by the developer on Friday!!
"After completion the forum questions will change to "has anybody had any of there snags attended to yet?"

Acezz / Helen,
I can see you are getting defensive, I am merely commenting on what I have heard, so don't shoot the messenger.
Let me explain so you can see my point of view: I attended a property meeting, met new people as you do, one conversation I was semi involved in there was one guy who was commenting on Property abroad and in particular Spain; he had said that Golf courses were a favourite for new developments and said that the golf course near sierra de mijas had a lot being built here that were overpriced, he also said that were too many at the time and something about licences to build them were not available. That is all, no more, no less.
Thanks

No DC, I'm not defensive either. If you had actually seen where Sea Golf and Grand Golf are built you would know that there is a lot of land still not built on - yet !!!
If someone thinks there are a lot of apartments there, you should come back and see it in 5 years time ( if the market dictates ! ). The licences are in place to build . These apts are in the Mijas district not in the Marbella district where there has been a lot of trouble with building licences. Believe me I have asked my Solicitor the same questions.
MKill ( fellow Irish man) - the buildings/gardens are very near completion but as to how long the habitation licence takes after that I'm not so sure. Going out the end ofJan for a few days so will report back. Did you see the pictures updated ?
Acezz - I know you are not defensive either........Grrrrrrrrr.
Happy Christmas to you all.

I have downloaded some new photos which were taken at New Year. It was very wet but you will see how the apartments and pool look. All that is to be finished is the turf.
The woman in the office told us that the licence was granted and the banker from the developer's bank-Caja Espana said that the licence was granted and that letters were going to the lawyers last week. However our lawyer has not been in touch yet. Lets hope we all get news this week. Did anyone else get similar information?

Received an e-mail from our lawyer today informing us that the license has been granted!!!!!!
The developer will notify the lawyer with the date for completion within the next few days.
This is great news and has certainlyy cheered up what is a very cold January day.
Here's to Calanova and sunshine

Hi Acezz / Helen,
Sorry only just seen your replies... mails were going to Junk!
Anyway, my mistake, it just seemed you were getting very defensive, like Acezz says you make your choice and as long as you are happy then that's great.
Hope all goes well. I'll keep an eye out on this one!
