We are due to take ownership of our apartment on Gran Mirador IV mid march can anyone advise on purchasing furniture. i have looked into the packages available via MRI and they are expensive. Are there any good furniture shops locally that have been used. We are coming out to El Campello for a holiday 15.2.07 so any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi

We purchased our furniture from Merkameuble which is in San Juan.  It is on the other side of the road to the Carrefour.  They do furniture packs but we ended up picking our own furniture and it came to 4,700 euros.  We paid 30% deposit when we ordered it and then paid the balance on delivery.  They were on time and no problem.

Hi Jenny

Your information on furniture is very timely as we are due to sign up for our apartment (phase IV) on March 14th. I am very concerned about security issues before taking delivery of any furniture so hopefully we will make arrangements for locks to be changed and security grills to be fitted prior to this. We are out again at Easter for a family holiday so I am hoping the snagging list is not a mile long otherwise we might be camping out!!

Hi Hayley

the website is www.merkamueble.com .  I downloaded pictures of our place so you can see what kind of furniture we got for the price.  We did order ours in March and had it delivered in May as we didn't need the furniture straight away.  I don't know if they keep everything in stock.  No one on our phase has security grills and they change the locks when you sign.  The snagging does take time but the most important issues will get done.  None of the snagging was major and stuff you can live with until it gets done.

Hi Jenny

Thanks for a swift response to my concerns re furniture and security. I looked at your photos some time ago and really like the things you have chosen. Has there been any security problems on the development. I am keen to get security bars just because we wont be in Spain for weeks at a time and I just want peace of mind. The messsage board has been a huge source of comfort and inspiration knowing that we can get answers to most of our questions. Thanks again for your help!

Hayley

PS I think I have been looking at Dave/Wendy's photos! Did you put yours on today?

Hi Hayley

I would think your place will be a gated like our phase although the gates weren't working for a few months.  There are always people on site from the San Juan Urbana team so I don't think you would get burgled and when they change the locks you are given security locks.  We are lucky as our neighbour lives there and checks our place and opens the windows for us every now and then to air it.

I put my photos on last year in May.

Hi

We furnished our 3bed apartment through IKEA in Murcia.Same stuff as the English catologue so you can choose at home what you need, you can hire a van of any size from a rentals firm based in IKEA which cost us about 120 euro for a return journey in a more than ample size van.We furnished the whole apartment ready for rentals, which it now is long term, complete with TV and digi box from carefour for around £2500 total. Its a bit stessfull but can save you a lot of money, but if your not  into that sort of thing theres always Drew and Geoff who do work on the site for several people including myself  could probably help you out and are very good.

Hope this is of some help to everyone

Hi Dean

Thanks for all extremely useful information particularly rental van from Ikea. Jenny has also given lots of really good information so we are now ready for action when we come out in March. I am still concerned about security on site. Do you happen to know which pattern of security grilles we are allowed to have on the development?

Thanks again Hayley

PS (Do you happen to know the web site address for IKEA in Mercia?)

Hi Hayley,

If you wish to purchase furniture for your new apartment i would avoid at all costs the quick fix packages. As you say they are expensive infact the more exact term is robbery, far better to find  a store that you like and order from them, IKEA is great as they have everything in stock, in most other stores you will have to order.

We have already already provided a complete purchasing process for a client in the same phase as yourself and would be happy to discuss your reqirements with you.

Hope this helps

Drew ( HANDY ANDY )

Hi Hayley

Just to let you know Drew helped us out a lot when we purchased our place.  He did all our lights and fittings and did a really good job (Drew's the man for your jobs).

Hi Guys

Thanks for all help and information re furniture. we have relatives in Busot who have also offered lots of help and advice. No doubt we will be tracking Drew down some time in the near future but at present we are waiting to hear from MRI. We received pics of our apartment from the mortgage surveyor and the Spanish definition of 'finished' is clearly very different from ours. We have a family hol booked for Easter and may very well have to re-schedule this if all is not well in two weeks time.

Thanks again for all helpful info

Hayley

email to darren.grant9@btinternet.com

Thank You
