Hello all,

Im new to 'eye on spain'. Jason is my Sunday name so Jay is fine.

About 12 months ago I purchased a town house at Los Olivos de Sierra Cortina, part of the Sierra Cortina Resort with my Father in Law John

Just a quickie to ask if there is any of You out there who have bought or recently completed on the resort and what your experiences are to date ie completion dates, updated info, furnishing your place and pictures, any pictures??!!

I visited the development in December and good progress was bein made, touch wood that will continue.

I recently recieved Justins mail regarding villapak and will probably have a nosy at their Bolton showroom as Im only an hour and 15 drive from there

If anybody has any advice or suggestions on this then please let me know

Thanks

Jay

Hi Jay,

We bought an off plan town house in Phase 2, Sierra Cortina in April 2004. It was a few months later than promised, but over all we were pleased with the builders, Purchades. We had a few things we were unhappy with.  - The granite work surface in the kitchen wasn't fitted properly and there were 2 wall tiles cracked. These were put right to our satisfaction quickly. Our son, like you came in with us 50/50 and you can see pictures of the house on his web site www.sjk.talktalk.net/Site. Our problems have been with the management company managing the grounds, security, swimming pool and individual gardens. Also, as the houses have been bought by many nationalities as holiday homes, they haven't been paying the community charges, which have meant that money has been spent chasing payments and taking legal measures to recoup charges owing. The community charges have been high. This year we have paid 1300E whilst I believe that Phase 1 have only paid 400E.

Regarding furniture, there are many decent shops nearby, and we've found everything we want easily. Carrefore, only 5 min away, sells all the kitchen equipment you would need at very reasonable prices.

You will find that you need an electrician to wire all the lights you require, as the builders just leave wires hanging, also the fitted wardrobes will need shelving and rails. None of our gardens had fitted gates so that is an extra. We also found that aircon was an essential as last year it was 40C in June.

We're happy to help with any questions you might have about running costs etc.

Best wishes, Eileen Koch
