Hi, I've been on an "inspection visit" this last weekend with a company called Villa Cashback and we really liked the look of Hacienda Riquelme. They showed us 5 different apartments and, to be honest, we loved them all! Just wondered if anyone had any advice, thoughts or comments for us as potential buyers. Is it as good as it appeared??!! Thanks.

Hi,
glad to hear that you liked the resort. I am an owner on the Resort and we love it, unfortunatly we can only get over there a few times a year. Its extremly relaxing, well maintained and security keep a close eye on things. The only down side is that there are not too many facilities in the town centre, hiring a car is well advised as the local village, Sucina, has all the amenities you need.
If you have children, then I would advise you to consider a ground floor apartment. The ground floor gives great access to the pools and they come with a small garden. The higher floors of course give a better view of the golf course. Keep in mind also that the community fee's are almost 1,000 Euro per year. All in all, at the prices they are being offered for at the moment, you cant go wrong.
"Welcome to the Hacienda"

John, Thanks for taking the time to reply. It's always reassuring to hear such positive comments from a present owner. I was just wondering if you used a local lawyer to deal with your purchase and if so, would you recommend them? Cheers, Mark

If i can just hijack the thread guys.....john mentioned the maintenance fee and i read on another thread that its dearer on golf resorts, but what are you paying for ? do you get free\concessionary golf with the maintenance fee ? i assumed the golf course would pay its own way with memberships and green fees and the maintenance was for buildings, pools and gardens etc. ??
cheers

cm7hammer, I am not yet an owner at Hacienda Riquelme so I'm no authority on the topic but I understood that ownership doesn't permit you any use of the golf course. Membership for the course is entirely separate although there may be some discount as a result of being an owner. I imagine that the community fees relate to all of the communal aspects of the resort - eg. pools, gardens, security, roads...etc.... I'm sure I heard/read somewhere that golf membership is around €1000 per year.

Hi,
regarding maintanence fees(community charge), they do not cover Golf, in fact the Golf course is a completly seperate entity, and is owned by a seperate company. The Golf courses which were Polaris were bought from them when they got into financial difficulties. the Golf course owners are responsible for the maintenance of the course and the club house and other shops etc in the town center.
The community (owners) are responsible for the rest of the resort.
The community fees go to gardeners, security, pool maint. lift maint. electricity costs for general areas, cleaning of blocks, and overall site insurance.
