In view of the recent events is it better to leave the lights on when you go out in the evening to make it look like someone is at home or turn them all out to try to look like the villa isn't occupied.

Hi Gary,
Has been said that have been some break ins targeting people who are in residence, not empty houses.
I know for a fact that there was one last week in the evening whilst the people went out to dinner.
Our friends on Resort said that was the only one they have heard of.
But other reports say more.
This happened a couple of times last year but people had left windows open.
Other resorts have been hit quite badly.
I wondered if it would be better to leave some lights on when we go out as we would in the UK or would it be best to be in darkness to try not to attract attention.
Hope you are well.
Regards Ricky

Hi Ricky
Thanks for letting me know, you would think with the security on HDA with the guards driving round every hour that this would not happen.
I have noticed though that you do not get stopped at the gates/barrier anymore, anybody can just drive in.
It may need mentioning to Jordi or Peter Whitehead to tighten up who is coming and going.
I assume residents would not stoop so low as to steal from their neighbours ?.
Maybe the recession is worse than first thought, some one actually stole my garden gates recently at home in Bury !!
Cheers Garry

Hi Gary,
Incredible whats happening today. Yours gates , railway lines. lead from church ,the lot.
It was Peter Whitehead that got burgled last week.
I used to like it when the guards came round every 20mins,
I suppose its cheaper to have the mobile patrol.
lets hope we don't hear of any more.
Regards Ricky

Thanks for your reply Roy.
Thats what we do in the UK but what made me wonder was if the lights were left they would know the villa was occupied and perhaps target it during the night. But thinking about it they would probably be on the look out during the day anyway.
As we have been told that it was only one incident perhaps it's not so bad as first thought.

Hi Steve, I was there about 10days ago and spoke to some people and they seemed to think that there had only been the one.
HDA has the patrol cars around the resort at all times although they can't be everywhere at once.
I set timers for when we were out. Also have an alarm.
Hope you enjoy your stay.

Is it the only way in through the gates at main entrance?
If so they want to check all vehicles going in & out
Hopefully it was a one off theft, but still not a good advert for Hda
Cheers

Hi Steve
Just think this was a one off.
There is never anything like this normally.
HDA is a wonderful resort.
