We have just returned from san cayetano and can not believe the state of the gardens . we used to love to sit out on our balcony to look out at the gardens but only thing we can see now are weeds weeds and more weeds and also lots of dog mess. We did try to pull the weeds out but they are very hard to remove. we can see the prices falling for propertys and wonder if we was to be buying in san cayetano what would we thing when we saw the state of the place. We travelled to many places whilst we were there and saw some lovely well maintained areas which now we wish we had bought there instead.

I quite agree, the place looks awfull now. What do we pay our council tax for, its like a forgotten village. We should all stop paying the council tax and organise to do the gardens ourselves, im sure it would look a lot better, I didnt spend all my money on my house for the estate to look like this, its a disgrace.

 Rgds Steve.

what is the phrase SAN CAYETANO WHERE YOU FORGET ABOUT TIME. It seems to be san cayetano the place that has run out of time. We thought that maybe to suggest that we could try to arrange a private company (like the guys from the cleaning company that trim the hedges etc for us to take on the contract of the gardens. We feel that we have been totally let down with all the false promises when we bought our place and i wonder what state the place will be in a year from now.

Hi

I agree the gardens do look unkempt.  We had a similar problem here in our village in UK.  We have a community garden " Millenium Garden" it becam very neglected.  Complaints were made to local council. Our council tax is one of the highest in the UK.  The council made all the right noises but did nothing.

Local villagers got together and "volunteered" their time.  A rota system was put in place so all we need to do is 2 hours every 6 weeks and the garden looks lovely.  The gardens in san Cayatano are bigger so more of a commitment may be required?  Volunteers?  I would be prepared to help whenever I was in Spain, although my not living there would be restrictive.

Our voluntary clean ups are a great source of community spirit and have become a bit of a social event.

I'm not advocating local authorities not fulfilling their responsibility to our communities both here in UK and Spain.  Not at all but if we were still waiting for the council to do something here our garden would be an overgrown mess!

Just an idea!

Take care.

Hi

A good idea thankyou. We originally thought why should we do the gardens when we are paying the council to do them, but after sitting and looking at them for so long we just wanted to clear the weeds away. I know that quite a few of our neighbours also clear weeds when they come to san cayetano. Us like you do not live there but would be very happy to help with the gardens. I can understand that some people through health are not able  to do this and also that some people disagree with this idea and i can quite understand this, so we are not wanting to cause upset its just that maybe a idea or two cant hurt.

kind regards
