We have been told by the Sales Office at the Hipodromo that due to a recent change in law - Aifos cannot handover any of the Blocks until the Develpoment is complete, pool, roads - finished.

it is only at that time that they can approach Mijas for the licences and the Junta for the pool licence.

Cannot see this done until late 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This may be true as we have had the same dealings on a house we moved into in La Cala last year.

Hi, yes thats probably true, I was informed by Aifos U.K that the four blocks almost complete will be available at the end of 2007, as the lady said that Aifos sell blocks not developments. This got me on the case as I dont want a finished appartment in the middle of a building site  ( it surely would never get a habitation licence?)

They also said that the development had a full building licence, this I knew was incorrect as the licence I have from the Mijas town hall is for 232 housings and the development is for around 360. So Aifos have been sticking to the original licence and only building what they are licenced to build. I have now contacted the Mijas town hall who say that Aifos have a modification to the existing licence, increasing the number of housings, but it is pending, awaiting a deposit payment from Aifos!! So I cant understand why the decking is going on a some of the blocks when the rest are still unlicenced to be built, iy must be so when they are finished Aifos will try and get people to hand over full payments.  Oh well see you all 2008-2009!!!!!!!!

Looks like Aifos is running out of money and can not even pay their workers. Hopefully purchasers have their bank guarantees.

CALA DEL SOL WORKERS STILL NOT PAID

About 80 construction workers held a protest demonstration on Monday because they have not been paid for the past two months. They are all working on the Cala del Sol development near the Ronda del Estero and Gallineras, which is being built by the property company Aifos. The men stopped work on March 13th, refusing to continue until they were paid, and they say the company keeps promising to pay what they are due but fails to do so. Some of the workers are suffering financial difficulties and are unsure whether to continue with their protests or whether to give up and look for another job, but as the properties have nearly all been sold off-plan they hope that the owners will speak out in their support and will demand that they be paid so that construction can continue. The homes are being marketed as being very close to the Castillo beach and ideally situated for golfers as they are only a few minutes from La Barrosa.
