Hi DF,
I was in the area for a while last year, we stayed in a company rental at Medina de Banus; we were there for around 4 months.
Now I'm pretty sure that since we left the new President of the community has made some real improvements, so I won't tell you about the issues we had as they will probably not be relevent now.
The President is a guy called Tom and he lives in one of the apartments, he has real passion for the place and it shows when you walk around the grounds.
The prices have indeed dropped, I was looking on idealista and bankiahabitat recently and was suprised at how much they have dropped in just 12 months.
But the point I wanted to make is simple. Location.
If you can afford Golden Mile then get on with it, if not look at the various locations in their perceived order of value and you'll quickly come to Nueva Andalucia; it's not far down the list.
Then consider all the recently built developments and Medina de Banus is right up in the top 5.
Next, contact Tom for details of the community fee charged and (i also think he will help you decide) do a comparison with the others you like. In the end it is the community you are buying in to as much as it is the fabric of the building or the quality of finish.
I would say that this is definitely one of the better developments to buy in to.
