Just had email from Mileniun asking us to send them our new IBAN due to bank changes. We've had nothing from our bank re this. Does anyone know what this is about and will it affect our other direct debits? Many thanks Liz

Hi Liz
Should not think so. I am with Barclays and have had no problems with my Direct Debits so far this year. You can of course, contact all the Companies who you have Direct Debit Dealings with , and ask them to update their records with your Bank IBAN details. This change came into effect from February 2014.
Regards

As far as I know, no IBANs have changed as a result of Spain moving into using the SEPA clearing system. What has changed is that customers of Lloyd's were transferred to Sabadell on the 15th March and this meant a change of IBAN. Sabadell say they will deal with transferring direct debits originating in Spain. I assumed Milenium have just been ultra proactive in writing to Lloyd's customers?

We got the email last week. Our IBAN has definitely not changed at all since we opened the account in July 2008.
Initially thought the email might be a scam but will be going into the office in person today or tomorrow.

HI All,
I had the same email from Millenium and wondered if this was a scam. Dont really want to send the details via email if possible and not over form a few weeks.
Can anybody confirm please if this is legitimate?
Regards,
Martin

I also received the e-mal. My IBAN changed when CAM was taken over by Sabadell. Sabadell sent me the new IBAN. This was several months ago, and my DD's were seemlessly dealt with after the takeover. Like you Martin, I don't really like the idea of sending these details by e-mail, though I might be worrying needlessly.

Hi, we were with Lloyds International which have been taken over officially by Sabadell from 15th March. Milleniun sent me the same e-mail for my new details and I sent them and had a reply saying they have logged the new details and can I go to their office on Condado next time i'm over to sign the new SEPA forms. Hope this helps.
Chris.

As mentioned below, I did go into the office today. The email was genuine, and I had to sign a new SEPA form, despite the fact that my IBAN details had not changed.
As for those of you whose details have changed due to takeovers and mergers, I got the impression from Mileniun that the measures that keep the payments going from old IBAN account numbers is only temporary. So it would be wise to contact Mileniun, Socamex etc.

I also called into Millenium re new Iban. as ex halifax now ex Lloyds we now have a new Iban number with Sabadell.
Millenium are suggesting that you will need to give details eventually because if payment are not made, banks will not be responsible if correct details are not given. like they said it will be you that has no electric or water.
Millenium are only trying to prevent issues. I also went into the Ayuntamiento De Alhama de Murcia office, opposite Millenium, and I signed three forms there for same reason. One of these is to be given to your bank, they are consent forms to take money from the new account.
Went back into Millenium to advise them to tell all residents re Ayuntamiento de Alhama, as Millenium unaware and payments due in June.
Millenium were also able to sort out authorisation forms for Iberdrola which I signed so again should be ok.
Finally went to Sabadell bank in Port and handed in consent form for Ayuntamiento and to check all accounts and pin numbers and online banking all up and running and all ok. They asked me for passport so they could photo copy it but didn't have it with me. So if you are going into the bank take your passport.
Hope this helps and i'd like to say Millenium did a good job sorting out.

What will SEPA mean for consumers? From 1 February 2014 an International Bank Account Number (IBAN) and a Business Identifier Code (BIC) will be required to make / receive euro electronic payments. Prior to 1 February 2014 you may be asked to provide your IBAN and BIC when setting up new direct debit mandates. For all existing direct debit mandates no action is required. This is from the SEPA web site

Many thanks for the responses. It looks like we shouldn't need to do anything so wonder why Mileniun are asking for new number. We're out next week so will pop in to clarify. I've also emailed our bank but still waiting on a response. Liz

Dear All
Please see the reply that I received from ML.
The communication sent to all owners through our web page has been sent due to many changes as many banks emerged and the holders IBAN has changed. In your case, the Banco Popular hasn´t suffered changes and the account is the same.
The only thing you´ll need to do is the next time you come to Condado, please visit us in order to sign a new SEPA form for a DD payment.

I phoned Sabadell (Lloyds) (Halifax) in Mazarron this morning. Staff member reassured me that we have to do nothing regarding Direct Debits, now or in the future as the bank will sort everything.
He did say with the new Sepa system some "smaller companies" were having difficulty requesting payments as they maybe did not have full Ibans in some cases.

Be aware if you are an ex Halifax or Lloyds bank International customer, your IBAN has now changed. So if you are using MoneyCorp and others to send money your bank in Spain, you need to change the IBAN to the new one or your cash will not arrive! I called into the Sabadell branch last week and for the first 3 months the former Lloyds staff will be working there whilst they work out the level of demand etc. The former Lloyds bank branch next to Mercadona closed and shut down at 1pm last Friday. Received the following from Sabadell today:
With regard to your email, we would like to inform you that it would be convenient you inform your creditors the new account number with Sabadell bank, although the direct debits active before the change of Entity, are still operative.
If you need for further information, please contact us to our phone Banking Online service: 902323000.
Speaks for itself.
