Had a fab 2 weeks at Condado, can't wait to come back in September!
We ate at every restaurant and all were great! I thought the menu del dia at the French Restaurant was very good value for money at 9.90 euros and we were able to have that in the evening, not sure if this will happen in the summer. Also the inside doesn't appear to be as bleak as before. I've just realised they do a menu del noche at 12.50 euros I think, so still good value.
However, the most surprising meal was at La Cata, after all the problems we had in the past we were very pleased with both the food and the service was second to none, would definitely recommend it.
The Bulgarian (now called Sofias) was also good and as it was early season we were able to order from both menus. We spoke to the guy running it and he explained that they have two kitchens, and that in high season they can't offer both menus as the pizzas are made from scratch and obviously take longer, whereas a lot of pizza places make them fresh and then freeze them.
Big G's was great as usual, with very good service.
Finally, we ate at the Condado Club on our first Friday, and had the Fish and Chips (our only english meal for the duration!) I have to say they are the best Fish and Chips we have ever had at home or abroad!
Enjoyed watching the footie at the Clover and chatting to all the regulars. Neil always makes you feel welcome, and the staff are so friendly. We actually met Miguel in church on our first sunday, which was handy as it turned out to be a christening followed by communions and the mass was starting an hour later then usual, needless to say we didn't stay as we would have been there for over two hours!
As always, you can't beat the beaches at Mazarron, our favourite is La Isla, but they're all great!
Got the Bikes (again!) at Condado Club which are great value for money for 8 euros a day, and cycled up to La Piniilla and then across to El Pareton. I think we did about 50km!
Los Balcones is also a lovely place to go to, and just down the road from Condado. We walked there in under an hour.
We did venture into the pool, but it was a bit chilly, although alright once you get in.
If you like visiting places, then Lorca is a must, really enjoyed walking (again!) up to the Castle and looking inside the Parador. Hubby did look at staying there as a treat, but it's a mite expensive, considering it's only half an hour drive from Condado.
We found a lovely restaurant in Alcantrilla, after getting lost! We watched the chef bring out the most enormous octopus I've ever seen, and then slice it as if was a roast, amazing!
Finally, we had some lovely tapas with our neighbours in their appartment, thanks Mark and Clare for your great hospitality.
A lovely chilled out holiday, now I'm back at work boo!
