Sorry, forgot to mention after our recent visit that we were stopped by security on our way out one day and they asked to check our boot. Just glad we hadn't decided to put our loungers in to take to the beach!
However, it is good to see that this is happening. Also, hopefully the new system of the plate reader will show who's coming and going. I know it's a bit of a pain for those of us who are holidaying to have to go and register our hire car with Mileniun, but if it puts a stop to thefts then I'm all for it. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Hi
I know there was a thread before about the new securtity arrangements but didn't really take heed as I thought it would be a while we are out at Condado again but, happy days, we are heading out in early July!
Can you register your car with millennium via email - we could email them as soon as we get the car at the airport!
Thx
MG

Unfortunately it's not that simple! You have to go into the office with your passports, prior to that you have to go through security and do the same. However, once you're registered it's a doddle. The only downside is if you come out at the weekend as I think you have to carry your passports with you until it's registered with Mileniun.

Hi,I as out last week and I have to say was a bit critical beforehand re turning off the card reader.
However once registered with ML it was very efficient, just roll up stop briefly and up the barrier went.
True I had to show my passport on first entry and again to ML,but worthwhile.
As below it should make the place safer and I think potentially will work well in future.

Why can't the registration be done just with Security which you have to do anyway? Why the need to do the same thing with Mileniun and, if it's IT related, why can't Security have access?
Security have indeed been checking car boots from time to time but not always. Nice to see.

When I queried with ML On our recent visit, I was told I could just email them the car hire reg from the airport and that this would be sufficient...there was no mention of going to their office with my passport (other than showing security if we were arriving out of hours).
Please could somebody clarify.
Thanks

You are correct that is sufficient as they have just replied to my mail saying the hire car registration number has been noted for their records, no mention of passports, maybe this is if you go into the office yourself to register

Thanks Brooksie
Time will tell then...I do find it strange though, how they require passports when you go to their office, since you are obviously already onsite and cleared with security at the gate.

Hopefully ML will soon get bored with the daily stream of people arriving at the office, to log their details on the system, and allow security to do it on first arrival or by e mail from airport.
One for the Presidents to look at?

I was one of the first to comment on what appeared to be an unworkable solution for those visiting with a hire car, however now I am on site, my only criticism is the lack of clear communication from Mileniun.
When we first arrived, we gave security our apartment number, name and showed driving license. They noted registration number and in we went.
Once in apartment and accessing internet, we emailed Mileniun with car registration number, and leaving date and that was us registered so didn't need to visit office.
Your email address is checked and this confirms you are legitimate.
For visitors to our apartment, if they send me a text from airport with hire car registration, I will send email to Mileniun with their name, registration number and leaving date and they shouldn't even have to be stopped by security.
I guess the only flaw would be if there were dodgy owners emailing with unsavoury persons details to allow them in to thieve or whatever but I suppose this is highly unlikely. Only foolproof solution would be to take DNA swabs from everyone and search every vehicle in and out.............. LOL that was a joke!!
Anyway point of posting was to explain how easy the system is if it had only been communicated properly.

LizzieB, that sound much better.
Do agree that they could have communicated this to everyone more effectively.
Can I ask which email address you used for them and did they email back to confirm that you car had been registered.

I agree on there being a bit of a communication problem. I always inform mileniun of my arrival and having done so for arrival this weekend, have just received e mail back informing me to show passport at gate and then go to office to inform them of car registration. E mail of car sounds much simpler LizzieB.

Now we have the number plate readers the security will be much better as before you had a swipe a card registered to you, and if you lost it, it could be stopped and a replacement issued. Not very secure was it.
Now if anyone wishes to gain unauthorised access they have to go to the trouble of getting a copy of any registered number plate and sticking on the front of the car and hay presto there in and no way of identifying if they are up to no good. But the baddies won’t think of that.
Seriously though the card reader was simple efficient and reliable, I am not aware of it failing.
The plate reader is far more complicated, has failed numerous times and has cost thousands of your money to put in place.
They will probably tell you it’s all been done for free like the boundary fence, woodwork painting and so on. I don’t think so.

I presume that millenium will email reply only within office hours? We will be arriving on Friday night / Saturday morning next and will not have our car registration until we pick up car sometime just before midnight?
