Van hire

Hello

Looking for van hire at reasonable price close to condado as we would like to take a trip to buy all our furniture instead of the furniture packs route. My Spanish is ok but not good enough to discuss van hire with a spanish company so any English speaking or very patient spanish companies would be super. I'm sure theres plenty of you that have done your own furniture in the past so I have fingers crossed for any and all advise

Hi Dancor,

We hired our van from one of the hire companies at Alicante airport.

Can`t remember which one but if you have a search around I`m sure you will find a few.

Used this as our transport for the week so no need to hire a car at the airport and then look for a van to collect furniture and so on.

I met an Englishman called Derek in Condado de Alhama. I engaged him to drive to Carrefour in Cartagena to collect some Garden Furniture. Very friendly, helpful and reasonble. You could shop around and arrange with him to collect. I have just recently completed furnidhing out an apasrtment. Got a lot in DFS in San Javier and white goods from TJ Electrics (Euronics) in Camposol. (English owned family business). I can pm you his email if you want to try.

a van from the airport may well be the best idea I am currently looking into that but  Galwegian if you would kindly pm me those details that may well be a handy thing to know also.

Hi Dancor 

There's a really good company in Murcia called Furgonetas Demetrio whom I used in 2012 and again last year who are very reasonable. Costs were about €65 for a 24 hour day plus fuel for an 8 cubic meter van which I used to go to Ikea and Thader etc. It fits beds and couches and much more and the vehicles were less than 1 year old each time. If you have a hired car as I always do, they let you leave your car on their site overnight and collect it again on return. 

The guys at Euronics in Camposol deliver free of charge any white goods like fridges and washing machines etc.

Thank you so much, all these replies are do helpful. We will definately find out info from them all and can't thank everyone enough. Word of mouth is so valuable. 

Steve from Camparsole has a van and does regular Ikea  / other furniture runs and also fit lights / shelves / Curtain rails etc etc and he is a sparky so useful all round - he is ENDPEG on the forum if you DM him   - we used him when we moved in and he was invaluable, that was a few years ago but I saw him in his van last week on site when we were over

We went to the Thader complex in Murcia, and the electrical shop we used delivered all of our stuff free of charge.

If you don't want to hire a van, we hired a berlingo when we came out, you'll be amazed what you can fit in one of them!
