Condado - Barcelona Train

Can anyone advise on Trains to Barcelona and teh best way to get there

My brother considered doing this altho the route he wanted was to fly into Barcelona, spend a few days there then travel to Condado.

He found it could take between 9.5 hours and 14 + hours to travel by train to Mazarron depending on what time he chose to leave Barcelona. Then he'd have needed a taxi or hire car from Mazarron to Condado.

At that point he changed his mind.

As an alternative- if you are just wanting to visit a Spanish City, we did the journey from Valencia in 3.5 hours by car, which included a couple a refreshment stops.

me and a couple of friends came over in march we flew into barcelona taxied into the city spent a couple of days there and then taxied back to the airport hired a car from the airport at barcelona ( in advance)  and drove to our apartment on condado it  took 6 hours to drive witha couple of comfort breaks very easy drive, we hired the car with hertz who we never normaly go with due to how expensive they are but in this case it worked out cheaper because they didnt have a per mile tax which all the others had and they didnt charge extra to return to a different airport which we needed as we then flew home to uk 5 days later from alicante  all in all a very good break easily accomplished by 4 women  we did price up flying or going by train but to be honest neither worked out any cheaper or any quicker. a few days in barcelona and the difference in price flying into barcelona well worth the effort.
