Does anyone know if there will be an insurance for each block in the name of the management company or if each apartment will need to be insured separately.

I am only refering to the fabric of the buildings, not contents.

Hi,

I'm not sure about the management company aspect but I have taken the developers mortgage and been advised by them to insure the buildings for 200,000 euros.  (ie estimated property value less the estimated land value)

I have a town house in Manilva on an urban. of 15 houses in 2 blocks. We have community insurance costing about 1300 euros a year paid out of the community fees. This covers the bulk of building, common walls etc. We then pay our own insurance for contents, water damage, electricity damage and your own internal walls etc. My cover for 6000 euros esthetic damage, 20,000 contents, etc works out 150 euros a year. Originally I paid 350 euros a year until I discovered what the community insurance covered. I was then able to reduce my cover to bridge the gaps. Our administrators are an agent for Zurich Insurance so we use them for community and private insurance. Most of the 15 houses have done this.

my understanding is if you have taken out developers mortgage with banco andalucia then the insurance is with them as standard. you can  also add contents on to that policy but beware...i asked for a quote and got an email back saying 'done' ...so much for customer choice....and they still haven't responded re the Ts & Cs such as if rental periods are covered for accidental damage etc.
