Mortgage for short term

Hi folks. Have purchased a 3 bed apt on 2nd floor which won't be ready until Dec, although knowing Spain this means March 2007! Can't wait - has great sea views. Have friends who already own similar in previous phase. They have been there nearly a year now and managed to rent it out for over 8 weeks in the last 3 months through Dennis Parsons (don't know whether you know him) to virtually all Spanish people. Our aim is to do the same ie rent out during the height of the season when it is hot and busy, but use it ourselves in the quieter months.

Hoping that we have made the right decision and investment buying in this development - fingers crossed when the golf course is opened next door and the general development of the immediate area is more advanced this will prove the case!

I understand that there may be a hotel built on the land between us and the beach - does anyone know any more info on that?

Last over there end of April and apt just a shell (although looking at it made us wonder why it would take so long to finish it!) and are going over next month to check progress. have seen a photo showing that the block is now painted and the pool being used. Apparantly the beach bar outside our development has now opened too.

Only thing I don't like about the complex is the carpark - wish they would grow say a vine or something over it to soften the look and help keep the sun off the cars. Maybe that's something we can suggest?

We are also buying an apartment at Costa Serena and waiting for completion. Initially it was supposed to be completed in June but were then told it would be Dec 07 / Jan 08. However out of the blue we received an email from our agent saying it is complete.

Must admit we are a bit unsure as to whether this information is correct as we haven't been over since July! The last photos we received showed the outside wasn't completed although admitidly it was well on the way. Louis and Martin told us in July they were aiming to complete all the exterior works and then complete the interiors for all the remaining apartments at the same time. We have written to our solicitors to ask them to confirm the completion date direct with the builders.

We hadn't heard about a hotel being built  - are you talking about the land near the tennis court? We were also told the revised plans for the golf course had been submitted by the new owners and awaiting approval. In July it looked like they had started work on the roads.

If you hear any more please let us know and we will do likewise.

Yes the hotel is around the tennis court area as far as i know and it will have a couple of shops too. i have been assured that it won't spoil our view! that said everyone seems to play a bit ignorant about it. Will let you know if i hear any more

Hi Tony,

Note quite completed but hopefully the end is in sight. We have been told the apartment is ready and we could take occupation in February 2007 but without the habitation certificate. I think this is because there is still some building work to be completed in the communal area to the front of our apartment and the Town Hall want to make sure its finished before issuing the certificate.

 If we want to wait for the habitation certificate then it looks like it will be April 2007. Our Solicitor is recommending we wait.

We have recently been sent some photos of the inside and I must say it is looking really good and is going to be worth waiting for.
