Hi Folks,
Arrived back at midnight Tues. - too jet-lagged to write before this. We now have our Keys , after doing the snagging and going to the Notary , where we met Steve and Elaine (15.46) and Raymond and Ann (15.42). We also met other people at SG. , John and Neil (54.23);Barry and Sylvia (On 13. ?); John and Ann ( On 15. ? at back of our place ) and Eric and Judy (15.52). ALL the people we met were very nice and friendly -- if everyone else are the same we will have a very happy family.
We got on especially well with Steve and Elaine , and if you are both reading this , we look forward to renewing our friendship very soon . Steve, our boiler is now giving us hot water !!!!!!!!!
The snagging went well apart from a major water leak from the top RHS pipe of our boiler. It was quite a job sorting it as the pipe was leaking from behind the tiled wall , but all is now OK. Anyone doing their snagging should make the boiler a priority as we have heard of a number of problems concerning them ie. missing boilers in two cases and water not heating up in another case. It is important to keep running the hot tap in the kitchen to release all of the air-locks in the boiler which prevents the water from heating up properly. As Steve said , we obtained our White Goods from Marin Electrics - they are situated in St Javier very close to the Notary and the Town Hall. The deal we got was a Special Offer (Hope it is still on offer for anyone arriving shortly) and the great thing about it was that it included fitting -- the fitters had to swop over our oven connection inorder to be able to push the oven all the way into the slot , which I guess is the same as Steve had to do with his. I have heard that it is possible to buy all of these White Goods cheaper at Leroy Merlin , near Cartagena , but without the fitting being included - so this might be an option for handy people who can do the job themselves.
What else ? My mind is dizzy with thinking of everything we have to do for our move , so please bear with me. Oh ! Our road has now had its top layer of Tarmac , which is between M15 and M14 , and goes all the way up to the Commercial Centre and beyond.
We are now getting all of our Goods and Chattels together , ready for our move on or about 18 Oct. , removalist permitting !!
We are still looking for people to move on a Part Load basis at about this time with Simon Marshall - Please get in touch with me if you are interested.
Regards to all - and looking foward to seeing you all soon.

hi all
congrats to you all with keys and handover dates!! i am still waiting patiently grrr
Do you know what sort of size the white goods are? and if they are standard in all the house types, i have a
green bungalow so would the space for the fridge freezer and over etc be the same as an open and albatroz does
anyone know?
thanks
cazza

Hi Cazza
I would say that the washing machine, oven & hob are standard sizes as they fit into a standard kitchen unit, the fridge/freezer best take the measurement of the area it's going to fit into, not forgetting the height.
It might be best to play it safe and take all measurements.
Tony

Hi Roger & Fran
Don't know what happened then, did'nt mean to do that.
Anyway, glad to hear your snagging was all done and the boiler was sorted eventually giving you hot water. Our first job was going to be changing the kitchen to a U shape to give us more preparation area and cupboard space but, after the rain on our last day and our garden becoming a mud bath, we have decided to do the garden first.
Steve has quite a few kitchens and bedrooms to fit over the next few weeks and I have a work trip to America during October, so if we don't make it over before Christmas we will look forward to meeting up with you again then.
Hope your move goes well and wish you all the best in your new home at Sierra Golf.
See you soon.
Best regards
Elaine & Steve

Hi Roger and Fran,
Congratulations on finally getting your keys!
And thanks for the update. Are the boilers included in the house prices or do we each have to individually purchase and install our own boiler (like the rest of the white goods)? This is still unclear to me. If we have to separately purchase a boiler ourselves, how do we know what type to buy? I mean: doesn't it have to be a model which is hooked up or connected to the solar panel system on the roof in some way? This is still a riddle to me.
RAIN in SPAIN???? NOOOOOOOoooooooOOOOOO! ;-)

Hi Elaine and Steve,
Great to hear from you - a pity though that we may have to wait awhile before we see you again ! We were hoping to get some advice from Steve re storage under the Solarium stairs ?
Regards and best wishes
Roger and Fran
Hi Michael,
The boiler is included with the furniture package and supplied by Torreamor. As far as we know it will be automatically linked-up to the Solar panel but has not yet been done.We have been told that Elec. is expensive and so the Solar panel will help a lot to cut down on the cost - we are on the builders Elec. at present.
Regards,
Roger and Fran

Hi Roger and Fran
Due to the the fantastic weather we are having in the UK, I've decided to drive over when I have clear dates. I will be bringing my tools and a few things for the house so if you want to discuss storage at the back of the house we can do it then. I've got a couple of designs, either low level or fully enclosed.
Before we left last week I took a full measurement of the garden and I've done some scale drawings. I am currently in discussions with an Alicante based UK company in regard to artificial grass (which is far better quality that the ones we saw in Spain and comes in widths upto to 4 metres). I'll send you a private email when I have all the details
Elaine's not too pleased about staying here working whilst I'm over there but the sooner I get things sorted the sooner we can move over permanently.
Look forward to seeing you both either end October / early November.
Steve

Hi Rob,
Sorry for the delay in replying to you - very busy packing etc. etc. We are flying out for good on 17 Oct ; staying in the same apartment on Roda as last time , for a week , until we get our house ship-shape. We have arranged to hire a car for 2 weeks, after which we hope to have purchased a 2nd hand car. Can't remember your house no. but hope to see you after you arrive , whenever that is.
Hi Steve,
Look forward to seeing you again , poor Elaine having to stay in Cold Britain. Will be interested to see what you come up with for the storage and also the artificial grass. I think you and Rob would be able to get quite a bit of work just building storage area for people , apart from other works. Anymore thoughts on covers for the front patio area ? We have now organised our removal with Simon Marshall - if anyone else wants to come on a part-load basis , please send a private message. Simon is picking our stuff up on 15th Oct.; then he has some others to collect - he anticipates arriving in Spain around the end of Oct.
Regards to all,

Hi Rob and Sue,
We have bought a Rotary Cloths Hoist from B&Q which we are taking with us - hopefully we will just be able to shove it into the ground at the back of our Open. Hope your Citroen Greenhouse doesn't take up too much space though. Eric doesn't need a greenhouse - someone has a tomato plant growing in his front garden !!! Serious !!!!!!!!!
Regards,
Roger and Fran
