Los Alcazares

I'm holidaying there in July, but I am thinking of looking for a small apartment/townhouse while I'm there, All advice and information on the buying process, estate agents, lawyers, areas to look at etc. would be very much appreciated.

Beautiful area with perfect, long stretch of beach as are surrounding areas. Just come and talk to people and also use this site. Many of us have learned so much from eye on Spain as we went through the buying process. Take time and drive around the whole area. My preference would have been to buy in Los Alcazares but we got much more for our money a bit inland. It depends how you want to use it and if you are buying with a view to living here.
Best wishes

Nice town smack next to the airport (beware of low flying jets over town when the runway is open in that direction !) with a newer urban spawl "Los Narejos" and the older original part of the the town
Always load of places to buy depending on your budget and preferences - so sure you would be able to find something of interest - we used a good solicitor for our purchase based just up from the 525 hotel and can give you details if you want them. Make sure you seek out a few of the eating places as well - very good Tapas place in the high street painted green and its just down the street from the most amazing fresh fish shop and the Patio BBQ restuant where they cook on massive open fires - be warned its VERY hot in there !.
Lovely long expanse of promenade and beach and always seem quiet out of season with many lock up and leave appartments

Where is the tapas place and and fresh fish shop? We seem to have missed those. El Patio is good.

The Tapas place is called RAMON and is down the main road heading away away from the Patio - head down past 525 on your left and keep going - you come into the older bulit up part of the town where the road narrow and RAMON is painted dark green on the left hand side up some steps off the pavement - recommended !
Keep heading along this main road another few hundred yards and before you get to the modern town hall on your left, the fish shop is on the opposite corner (on your right) it has green shutters and staff in waterproofs !
I have been in there on a sunday morning and its packed with shoppers poking over the green baskets dumped on the counter packed with a huge variety of all things fishy - never seen so many fish in one place on slab !
We are back in 7 weeks and cant wait - we are out in Condado near Mazarron but always make excursions into Los Alcazares !

Thanks, we will try the fish shop. We go to the little Spanish cafe which has tapas. It is in the far left corner at Mercadona. Good Postroom opposite as well. It has been chilly this Winter but it should be warming up when you come.
On Saturday lots of people were on the beach in Los A. We sometimes hire bikes and go off along the beach. The Los Narejos market on a Saturday is good too. It is easy to find - just go through the arches at the roundabout and keep going down- almost at the beach.

Hi
Take a look at the restaurant review and mar menor restaurants thread. Scroll down and Patman has put a great link in with all the restaurants and reviews for Los Alcazares. Hopefully we will be flying out on Sunday if all goes well so will be trying a few new places. Lovely area. We are in Santiago de la Ribera which is about 15 mins North of Los Alacazares.
