Didn't know where to post these photos, so thought would start a new thread!!
I just thought these were really interesting! This phenomenon only happens at the instant an aircraft breaks the sound barrier, I am told!! And it literally appears like the aircraft goes through a wall.
Amazing or what?!!

Pitby, do you really have a place in Duquesa? We stayed there in 2005 in a Las Brisas house that overlooked the whole port and harbour, it was wonderful and the harbour has a great atmosphere. We managed to sneak in a visit last year when we were close to Estepona with friends. They thought we were shopping but we had a late brekkie in the harbour. In 2005 We had a great time on the beach although we nearly lost a nephew in the waves- there one second, gone the next- boy did we laugh (once we had him safe!) We were supposed to be staying in Los Castillos but they cancelled the booking two days before the visit and we were offered the house on Las Brisas (that was a tad disappoiting at first because we'd researched, as you do, Los Castilos for months) but in the end the house was great. Los Castillos or Las Brisas bear no resembalance to anything on this link!!

Great aircraft photos Jan.
The photos don't actually show the instant the aircraft flys "through" a sonic wall, but are visible clouds that form in intense, low pressure areas when an aircraft is flying at transonic speeds, ie. when the aircraft itself is just below Mach 1 but the compressed air above the wing has achieved the speed of sound.
For the geeks out there, these are called Prandtl-Glauert Singularities and actually remain with the aircraft as it travels along (assuming it stays at the same speed and in air of the correct humidity)
Check out this cool video of the same effect:

This is a snake pulling a jill out of the water.
Talk about a man eater!
This picture is from Western Australia, apparently. Take a careful look at this picture; see the size of the snake and the cow being pulled out of the water.

I do love this thread!
But, I am a little worried about members posting links to websites on ANY of the EOS threads.
I heard that one or two or three members have caught, (well their computers have caught!), viruses from using a link on EOS.
Personally, i won't be clicking on links again, so maybe we shouldn't post them?
Just my thought, as my computer "died" on my a couple of weeks ago, for no reason, I am now using my Daughter's laptop.
If I break this one, I will be in serious trouble!
Rgds,
