Proposed changes to Spanish Health system
The Comments |
Hi, I hope the following might be of interest to any pre-retirement age British residents here who currently have health care either through a "dummy" autonomo, private medical insurance or the Valenciano cuota system.
An article appeared in El País last week regarding the approx 200,000 people currently excluded from the public health system. The Government has announced that it plans to introduce legislation in November to complete the universalization of health care and bring all residents within the system. Although there is a long and complex story behind this, the principle was approved unanimously in Congress last September and agreed with the Partido Popular as the first point in the "Pacto por La Sandidad". No details of the proposed legislation have as yet been published. However, all previous proposals have included foreign residents.

It will be such a relief to many if/when it happens.
