I have a tower computer, together with a Brother  (DCP-585CW) wireless, printer, scanner, fotocopier.

My wife decided she wanted Telefonica´s ADSL TV.

This meant a new router was installed.

While everything else works fine, my wireless printer will not now work!!

I have a 13 digit alphanumeric code number for the router.

Also I have a reference code of WLAN-AE.

Can anyone tell me, please, in layman´s language, what I need to do to get back to normal?

My wife is very happy but I am not!!

Thanks in advance for any help.

Apparently the set up instructions are on a cd, so says the manual I have just downloaded from the Brother site. Somehow, you have to find the wireless network that your router is broadcasting (SSID), there will probably be an options button to scroll through. Once you have found your network, put in the WEP security key given on your router (unless you have changed to a more secure encryption).

Sorry, can't be any more help as thereappears to be a total lack of communication on Google.

Pilgrim...dont know if this will help but the chances are that your IP address has changed with the installation of the new router.

Where we live we have to change our IP addy every so often to keep abreast of the lousy ADSL sercice in our area. We do this by pressing the reset button on the back of the router for more than three seconds.

The consequence of this action however means that we lose the wireless feed to her netbook because the reset turns off the WiFi signal from the router.

In order to get the WIfi connection up and running again we have to operate the reset button again for three seconds.

This has the effect of turning on the WiFi from the router and the netbook finds the signal.

If you have no other WiFi kit, i would suggest you try this reset for three seconds trick and see if your printer finds the signal.

Just an idea...If you are running XP by the way, you will have to reboot the computer after the reset. Vista will find the new iP without a reboot.
